... brought me more kitchen duty, which lasted all morning. Since I'm getting a visitor tomorrow (unless her family interferes), I decided to bake the Easter buns and the Easter cake today. Plus I made the beetroot blinis for lunch. I still have to make the filling for the cake, and the asparagus quiche tomorrow, but I have to pat myself on the shoulder for having done most of the work today.

We also went to church with Mum, which was the longest walk of this year so far. She insist on visiting the "Holy grave" on this day, as it has been a family tradition for three generations, and mustered all her strength and courage to do so. Actually, she mustered her strength and I mustered my courage; as we haven't built up her endurance to a level that would have reassured me, I was mightily nervous. But the higher powers were with us and we managed to trip without problems.

Coming back, I've put up at least some of the Easter decoration - I've never been so far behind schedule before - and did some writing. And now I'm contemplating whether I should make the cake filling tonight, after all. It would be another thing out of my hair, but I'm not sure I'll find the energy to do so.

I'm glad to hear your mum made it to church okay. That must have been such an accomplishment for her!

Oh, it was! She's yearned to do it for so long, I'm happy that we could make it.

BTW, take another look at the post, I'm about to add something that you might enjoy. :)

I am happy for you and your mother! I, too, went to a nearby church today, because I love the Holy Grave they have there. Love it since I was a small child. One of the few constants in my religious life now. It´s pretty hard to live in a family with so many different religious orientations!

I feel so lazy compared to you; I don't do a single thing for Easter or any other holiday. :D

I loved the vid - wow!

I can imagine! We only had Catholics and Lutherans (the Hungarian and the German branch) in the family, and even that led to tensions between the grandparents (my generation was basically agnostic, save for me).

Dan Vasc is great! Predominantly a metal singer, he sometimes branches off into different genres. You should hear him sing traditional opera! Or musicals!

As a rule, I go into Easter much more relaxed. I don't know what happened this year, how it became this busy and a bit stressful. I'll have to pay more attention next time, I don't like being so overworked.

I've subscribed to his channel right after I first heard his rendition of "Far Away the Misty Mountains Cold", together with another metal singer. But he has other stuff, too. I was baffled when I heard him singing "Nessun Dorma".
