Well, the muse finally chose to cooperate and let me write the actual first part of the "Birthright" series. Or, at least, half of it. The other half will be done in the next two or three days. Yep, this will be a short one (or so I hope).

Anyway, the first half is here:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2193061/1/

It features Perseids exclusively, because I like them a lot, and because I always wanted to know who Höhne's opponent (who tried to chicken out of the agreement about joining the Commonwealth but got put to his/her place by Beka) was, and how Rannveig got to be sent out for that All System's University library that he placed into poor Harper's head.

Oh, and the story is *not* very nice to Captain Hunt. So, you have been warned, now enjoy!

Addendum
It seems the muse was on the roll. She actually allowed me to finish the next chapter of Brithright 2: The Gathering. See here:

The investigation is still on, but I had to break the chapter again. It's 12 pages long as it is.

hhm, I've read both. I really find myself disliking Captain Hunt, who appears to an idiot.

On a lighter note, my local video hire shop has some Andromeda tapes for hire. I might have a look soon, but I did check with the staff, and they confirmed my original investigation that this series was never shown on Aussie TV. Apparently, Channel 9 looked at it, but too much money was wanted.

Frigging LJ ate my reply again. *curses*

Anyway, I hope you'll liek Andromeda. The first two seasons aren't that bad, although they could have been so much better. Just like Voyaer, I guess.

I found an old tape that survived my mometnary insanity when I erased the German-dubbed episodes, and to my great pleasure, it contained Music of a Distant Drum, a Tyr-focused episode. Yay!

Much yayness!!!

You writing FIEND, you! Yet another ficdom? How many is this now? Four? Five? Six? And I can't even keep my head above water in one...

I look forward to reading ths one, as it sounds quite intriguing. I've been taping and attempting to watch without gagging the current season (no Tyr, but at least there's Steve Bacic to look at), just to see if it can be saved. But iam holding myself back from reading your Andromeda stuff until I get caught up in the Tolkfic realm, both reading *and* writing. (And nooooooo, I have not forgotten my promise to post another Awful M-S chapter as for this year's Xmas Challenge fic. It's just that I need a few days for my stomach to recover after writing the "author" notes.)

Darn! I was going to get that episode for you and surprise you with it! It was really one of the better ones ("Perhaps due to the lack of Sorbo-centric plot?" she adds snarkily). Cobb and the guest actor playing the woman really worked well together, I thought. One of the few "regular cast member has amnesia" stories that actually worked for me - most seem like a non-sci-fi realm way to hit the reboot button temporarily and let characters go wildly OC.

That's a very good episode indeed. Don't let me stop you acquiring it for me... *g* I only have it in German, and I so want to hear the original voices.

In Birthright 3 or 4, this episode will be featured - including the actual "liberating" of Drago's bones from Enga's Redoubt. That'll be one big action/adventure story... with a slightly different outcome. The only thing I didn't like in the episode was Yvaine remaining on Midden, when it was clear that the Drago-Kazov would hunt her down and kill her for helping Tyr.

It angered me the same way I was mad at the ending of the DS9-episode Paradise, where every single colonist chose to remain on their no-tech world to die from easily curable diseases, even after their tyrant has been removed, just because "it's ourhome now". Oh, please....

Or in Voyager, in that 37ers episode, where not a single crew member chose to remain on that pleasant planet, populated by the descendants of abducted humans, where they could have had a normal life. Instead, every single one chose to go with Captain Kathryn Neverwrong on her quest.

Just how stupid the screenwriters think their audience is?

Well, let's count, shall we? *g*

1) Original Trek
2) Battlestar Galactica
3) Tolkien with all facets
4) TNG
5) DS9 (nothing published, so far, but I do have some stuff)
6) Voyager (including the separate Equinox version)
7) Babylon 5
8) Crusade (the Sekrit Project)
9)Andromeda
10) Buffy/Angel
11) Kindred: the Embraced

I think that would be all, not counting in slight crossover additions from other fandoms.

BTW, do you know Viridian's Andromeda reviews? She's a devoted Harper fan, but she is with us in the Kevin Sorbo Haters Anonymous club, and her snarky reviews are really a piece of work.

Look here for seasons 1-4:
http://viridian.mrks.org/season1reviews.htm

Some season 5 reviews can be found on her LJ:
http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=viridian5&keyword=Andromeda+season+5+reviews&filter=all

They're really worth reading, she has wonderful snark. Especially the countdown of Dylan Hunt's mental instability and the returning question: "Kevin Sorbo, why do you hate us so much?"
