Sometimes I wonder
Feb. 11th, 2023 06:17 pm... why is it that the weekend is our busiest time of the week. Until I remember that this routine has established itself when we were still working, both of us. So, workdays were out of the question for laundry and cleaning and the likes. And after we'd retired, we just kept on with the old routine because it was easier that way.
In any case, we had laundry day today. Plus, I gave one of those chestnut cake recipes a try, and it turned out absolutely delicious. I'll do it more often in the future - only that I'll have it much easier then, since I'll buy ready-made chestnut puree. Pureeing the things was the hardest part of the whole thing. They were soft, yet clingy somehow and nearly killed my hand-held blender, so I had to set it aside and do the pureeing with a fork. Sometimes the old, brutal methods are the best.
I also took over the cooking, at least part of it, since we still had salad and spinach left over from yesterday and the day before. And Tütensuppe. I made rösti, though, and baked some frozen fish in the oven. It was yummy. Mum ate the spinach and I ate the salad, and the soup is gone, too, so we have a clean slate for tomorrow. Which -
noadvertising, cover your eyes! - will be cauliflower day. And pear compote instead of soup. Yeah, weird, I know, but we're still on the "let's use up stuff before it goes bad" bandwagon.
Crafting-wise I've been working on the small baby diary booklets, which was fun, but very, very detailed work. I'm not quite done yet, but considering how little time I had for crafting, I'm satisfied with my progress. Tomorrow is another day.
