I've worked on the inside of the covers of Baby Books #2 and 3. The sorting of paper rests by colour yesterday proved very useful. Even so, it is slow and fussy work, but I managed to finish the inside of the front covers. As tomorrow will be another day in, I hope to move on to the back covers. We'll see.

Not much else was done today. We had Tütensuppe and pasta with cheese for lunch, and the physiotherapist came to work with Mum. Other than that we watched some telly and that was basically it.

The weather is still nice and sunny, albeit quite fresh over here. The flat is cosy warm, and yet we both feel a bit cold from time to time. Perhaps we've upset our stomachs slightly with eating all the rests from Friday's party for days. Let's hope it won't get any worse. *fingers crossed*

We got some cooked chestnuts, ready to be eaten as birthday gifts. I've searched the 'Net and found a few recipes for chestnut cakes/loaves/whatever, so one of them will be baked during the weekend. The chestnuts are in sealed bags and their "best before" time is still months away, but they take up a lot of space in the fridge; space that I'll need for other things once I've done the food run on Friday.

I'm curious what you'll make with the chestnuts. I have so many raw chestnuts in my freezer, I really should do something with them.

chestnuts are also good in stuffing if you have any chickens or turkey around.

Well, I simply googled Kastanienkuchen and ended up at chefkoch.de, where I found several very good recipes. I selected the three simplest and cheapest ones and will bake one of them on the weekend.

Yes, I've tried that in the past but we both decided that we liked the simple old stuffing from Granny better.

I've made chestnut cake once and didn't care for it.
Better eat them as a snack!

Space is always a problem in non-US fridges. There's only me, but I still struggle for room when I've had a grocery delivery.

I tried to eat them as a snack but didn't like them. OTOH, I used to make traybakes with chestnut pudding (what we understand under pudding, not what the British do), and it was excellent. So I think I'll give the Kastenkuchen recipe a try, as it appears to be the quickest and easiest one. I don't feel like bothering with filling and all that — although I might change my mind till Saturday. *g*

I seriously doubt that an US-fridge would fit into our flat. *g*

Can you do a sweet chestnut puree you can use for all sorts of cakes?

I have half a pound of that in the fridge. Now I want to make something with as little effort as possible. *g*
