This and that
Dec. 30th, 2022 06:15 pmI had a very mixed day, with domestic duties, crafting, crap telly and acts of friendliness - all in all, a delight!
I started with making a food run - a fairly short and simply one, or so I thought. Still managed to buy a few things we didn't really need and spend more money than originally intended, but I jotted it down under the line of "it's Christmas, we deserve to indulge". Not that one jar of Spekulaas spread and one batch of price-reduced marzipan would originally be such a big indulgence, but still...
On my way out I checked the post box and found a lovely Christmas card from
artemis10002000, with some extra stickers in it - thank you, my friend, I can always use extra stickers! *hugs* It really made my day! I just hope that mine will reach yours some time before Easter!
Food shopping took more time than expected, too, due to the incredibly crowded Lidl supermarket. Hungarian people tend to panic whenever the food shops will be closed for a full day - like on Sunday - and besides, New Year's Eve means eating and drinking until the doctor arrives, as the Germans like to say. Germans have some of the best expressions, really!
So, because I got home late, we had brunch instead of breakfast. After that, I worked a bit on Dani's quiet book again. It was a really laborious task, because my cheeky little septopus (it only has 7 appendages, so I can't call it an octopus, right?) insisted on having some spark in its life, so the metallic threads had to come out again. Arrrgh! I've made that one motif, about 4cmx4cm small, and it took me over two hours!
Then we watched some telly, while I finished the soup, which we ate with Butterbrot for lunch... around 15:30 or so. Rather late for lunch, but we are a somewhat inconventional family, I think. Or just plain lazy.;)
Afterwards, I called Eliza, one of my (ex-)colleagues, and we talked a bit. Then I watched that submarine episode of Primeval's 5th season and had quite a few headdesk moments. In case you didn't know, playing stupid video games apparently enables you to steer a submarine! Really, the only saving grace of the episode were Lester's sarcastic comments about the mental abilities of everyone. Ben Miller can deliver them with such a blank, long-suffering face, that alone made me laugh so hard I was nearly crying.
So, what else? Nothing really. Mum had her usual daily phone chats with her friends, and we'll be watching old re-runs of the GBBO, starting at 9pm. We are okay, the world still hasn't ended, and hopefully, when this year ends, the next one will bring some more sanity. Not very likely, but I refuse to give up hope.
