Tired again
Oct. 21st, 2022 05:58 pmAt least I've got an excuse today, having got up an hour and a half earlier, so I that I could do the shopping while Mum was still resting. I got home twenty minutes or so before her getting-up time... and found her up and trotting around already. We had a fight about her not getting enough rest; of course these are the fights I can never win. When she knows I'm right and can't argue, she just starts weeping. Ugh!
Anyway, we made up by 11 o'clock, when we had already had our breakfast and other morning rituals (I got back shortly before 9, just to make things clear) and sat down watching Richterin Barbara Salesch, which is the German version of Judge Judy. We both love that show, and I worked a bit on my Christmas cupcake page while watching it. After that, and after lunch, I was so knocked out I had to take a nap, which did me a lot of good.
Not much else happened today, except that I've made my first list of Christmas baking. The plan is not to go so overboard as I did last year; right now, the list has 14 items. Of course, that was how I started off last year, and ended up with 44 various cookies, but I'm determined not to get there this time, especially as baking ingredients - including simple sugar, flour and margarine, not to mention eggs - have gotten outrageously expensive since then. I'll try to hold back, I swear! OTOH, baking solves the Christmas gift dilemma, since everyone is glad to get ready-made cookies instead of making them, and they'll be gone in a couple of days, instead of collecting dust in various corners, like other gifts tend to do. We'll see how much self-discipline I can bring up. ;)

Date: 2022-10-22 11:25 pm (UTC)I'm not doing any baking this year. Grocery prices are so outrageous that it makes me a bit angry since some price hikes just aren't justifiable. Plus, I just don't feel like baking so I won't.

Date: 2022-10-23 02:49 pm (UTC)Me, I can't imagine Christmas without baking, despite the prices, but there isn't much else left for me related to Christmas, so it is different.
