The best-laid plans
Sep. 29th, 2022 06:01 pm... of meeces and men, as the crafting crowd at
get_knitted would say, often go awry. As some of you might remember, I was planning a hunting day today. Which usually means that I get up at (for me) ungodly 6am to be at Aldi or Lidl when they open, so that I can actually get the stuff that is on sale.
Well, my alarm went off at 6am dutifully - and it was raining outside like whoa. I decided that rain wasn't the best for hauling home several six-packs of ginger ale (we're talking about 1.5 l bottles here!), so I re-set my alarm for 7am. When it went off, it was still raining. Reluctantly I gave up on hunting, hoping for better weather conditions tomorrow - and that they'll refill the shelves by next morning.
At 11am, when we were both over our morning routine (and breakfast), it cleared up and we had bright sunshine. I spontaneously decided to go to Lidl anyway, since we barely had any bread in the house and definitely no drop of milk left. To my great surprise, I not only got everything that was on sale and I wanted to buy, but a few other things I hadn't even counted on. So, it was a good trip. Of course, the booty was too heavy for me to haul it home, therefore I took the shopping cart with me and pushed the stuff till the front door of the building. There I took the bags, one of a time, to the elevator and to the entrance of our corridor, where Mum watched over them while I brought the cart back to the supermarket.
Such are the adventures of my life.
Still, I managed to work a bit on the quiet book page, too. The gift boxes are now finished, equipped with ribbons and bows and a decorative bead each, plus the Christmas-themed stickers inside. They can also be removed and rearranged (yay, Velcro work), and all in all look really good. The page is nearly done, I just have to sew on the Velcro for the bell and the gingerbread man that will serve as additional decoration, but that will be done tomorrow. My fingertips were seriously protesting. *g*
I also cooked lunch and talked to my friend Erna on the phone. All in all, another good day. Now if I only could get my iPad mini back - or a new one, if nothing else helps - so that I can finally take some photos!
