Also the Namenstag of my grandmother. Or would be, were she still with us. Of course, that would mean the age of 122 years, as she was born in 1900, so the thing would be highly unlikely, but she did live 96 years, which is also a respective age.

I continued the slow cleaning today. Bath and loo are scrubbed clean, but I postponed the inner corridor for tomorrow, as I also had to make a food run in the morning and decided that I was too tired for that. Especially as it is still quite hot, even though we had a short, mild rain at mid-day.

We had leftover soup for lunch and I cooked some frozen Zwetschgenknödel; that required little time spent in the kitchen. I could do it during the ad breaks of Auf Streife, which I tend to watch in the early afternoon whenever I can. My German vocabulary is deteriorating nonetheless, since I hardly ever get to actively use the language. *sigh*

Did a bit of crafting in front of the telly. The Holy Family felts are nearly done: Joseph has his beard (even though he looks like Rumcájsz, the Robber, from a Czech kiddie show), Mary is firmly stitched on and the Baby Jesus has a bit of hair on top of his head. Tomorrow I'll stitch on the bronze stars and the hangings and sew the front and back panels together - at least some of them. There's no hurry, after all.

Oh, and H. has just sent some pics of the new grandson - he is what the Germans would call a Wonneproppen - 56 cm, 3980 grams!

That's indeed a Wonneproppen. Though I can easily top that with our number three- 60 centimetres, 4990 g at birth.

Jesus wept, how did you manage to give birth to such a baby giant?

In my opinion, cleaning is best done in small bites, so congratulations on that.

Small bites are all that I can bear of it. Of course, this way it takes the whole week...

Needs must, sister. Crafting helps me to endure housework.

The usual way? Was an easy task, I only had to kick the doctor out first!

Kicking out the doctor usually helps — with almost everything.

I like to clean room by room too. If I try to do the whole house at once, near the end I get sloppy because I'm tired and fed-up, and that sort of defeats the purpose.
