Really, things are getting insane in fanfiction land!

I don't understand! I always rate and tag my stories properly, this one is basically an action-adventure one, without block-quotes of episode dialogue or whatnot, not to mention has been up for 3 years! And no, I didn't get any explanation why the story got hidden!

I'm really disheartened about the whole thing. I thought AO3 was a safe place, but it seems not a tad better than FF.Net aka the Pit of Voles!

Edit: The mystery is solved

Well, it seems that my spam folder swallowed their explanation, but fortunately, they re-sent it. The reason turns out to be actually genuine: 12 years ago, when I originally wrote the story, I included parts from someone else's fic, regarding what the team ought to take with them on a one-way mission, with the intention to completely re-write it... and then forgot about the rewriting. Now I deleted the full content of the chapter where the stuff is and hope they'll have patience with me till the complete re-writing happens. I informed the Police & Abuse team about this and pray that this will be enough. *sigh*

My stupid fault, after all! I guess it was the other author or one of their fans who complained - and they had the right to do so. :(

My thoughts exactly! You've read the story and know there's nothing offensive in it — unless someone is a Gwen fan!

It may be that they like Gwen. Silly people.

In that case I might count on all of my Torchwood stories to be hidden eventually. :(

I guess — like FB — they use algorithms to check stories.
And those are ... wonky. To say the least.
I'd wait for the email and see what they say.

It may be some idiot who has reported it because they don't like how you treated their favourite character, they want to steal your plot for their own story, or they mistakenly think you stole theirs. Most sites delete/hide first and investigate later, to avoid controversy. I would definitely appeal if you don't get an explanation within a couple of days. Don't take it too much to heart. This is normal procedure. I once got a photo post deleted by fb because it had a screencap of a blood covered hand!

Hmm, that is strange. That it happens after such a long time does make me think someone with a grudge reported it (AO3 staff is known to be slow, but not this slow)

Hopefully requesting an explanation will get you a response quickly, and this can be sorted out speedily.

It was a mistake on my side, unfortunately. See the edited version of this entry above.

Yes, I think someone reported it, but they were well within their rights to do so. I was being a distracted fool 12 years ago. See above the addition to this entry.

As you can see in the edited entry, it was entirely my fault. I hope the solution will work.

No, it was my fault, it seems. They already answered, and unfortunately, they were right. See above.

I read the edit and ouch, that's a very very old mistake coming to haunt you. But on the bright side, I'm glad you got a response so quickly, and could respond accordingly now. Hopefully it's all resolved now, with only a scare left.

I don't know what you did to Gwen but I had 13 get eaten by C'thulu in one of my House fics.

Ouch. Totally understand how it happened (I have written a couple of stories in response to someone else's — usually not a very polite response — and had the original there as 'inspiration'.)
