I hope you had a wonderful time!
Me, I had a hectic one. First, I had to bake a sponge cake because Mum's best lady friend is coming to visit tomorrow: a lady also barely short of 90, who can't eat a great many things for various reasons, most of them imaginary. But she's not allergic to sugar and gluten or eggs, so I baked Grandma's famous sponge cake that consist of the three ingredients named above and nothing else. Okay, I added half a teaspoon of cocoa powder, since the lady likes chocolate, and filled the cake with strawberry jam, as she doesn't eat fresh fruit (at all!), but likes preserves.
For that, I had to make strawberry jam first, of course, since she won't eat any of those obscenities you can buy in the food shops, because of the who-knows-what they put into them. For the record, my jam is absolutely delicious.
Then Monica, our choir leader, called, to tell me that there were fresh strawberries to have at school, and actually cheaper than you can get them in the food shops. Someone didn't take the entire 5-kilo-box available, and if I wanted the half of it left, she'd pay it for me and I can give her the money at the choir practice in the afternoon. Naturally, I wanted the strawberries (since the ones we had went into the jam), which means tomorrow, when our guest leaves, more strawberry jam will be made.
Before choir practice I made a detour to Pepco and bought some more of the excellent hard felt sheets. I left two packages for other potential felt workers because I'm generous like that... which I've regretted in the meantime, since it's so rare that one an get patterned felt, but I definitely won't go back tomorrow again. There has to be a limit somewhere. (Unfortunately.)
I also went to the sewing supply shop to buy some more hook and loop, aka Velcro stuff. Yeah, I think Elise's granddaughter #3 is going to have her quiet book, too. Especially as I've bought all this lovely hard felt...
Choir practice was great fun as always. Adrienne has brought little Abel to the practice, and he enjoyed himself very much "helping" the piano player and generally charming everyone out of their pants.
Coming home I showed Mum the amazing strawberries I got - they are so big they could be small apples, really - and the felt stuff and all that. Then I finished the came for tomorrow, glacing it with chocolate and decorating with white chocolate shreds and freeze-dried strawberry cubes. I'll post a pic tomorrow if I don't forget, because I'm proud how pretty it turned out.
So, my day was busy indeed. Too busy to do any crafting, and I'm afraid tomorrow won't be any better. But that's okay. I might have some time during the rest of the week. *fingers crossed*
