... was quiet again. I worked a great deal on The Thing of Beauty and managed to finish all the actual pages, even though I had to re-do one because the paper got fatty fingerprints on it. I forgot that I must not touch my face while doing paper crafts - scratching my forehead in deep thought once was enough to ruin the work of roughly 40 minutes!

The second version of the page isn't bad, but the first one - the one I ruined - was so much better. I nearly cried in anger. But it is finished now, which means I can attack the binding part next. That will be another stressful phase, but I hope I'll be able to do it properly. The fact that I've done it at least half a dozen times won't help a bit, I'm afraid.

Other than that, not much happened. I've written another scene to "Kindred Spirits" and hope by God that I'll be able to finish this sucker in the foreseeable future. I even typed up everything I wrote today, so I'm quite content with my progress.

We ate leftovers again - Easter ham, the never-ending couscous and the Spiegeleikuchen for lunch and more of the Guglhupf for breakfast - I talked to my friend Evie on the phone for at least half an hour and had a nap in the afternoon. Now that the TV gods decided that they've had enough Easter festivities, there will be re-runs of the GGBO and the Great Australian Bake-Off tonight again. Yay for shared TV-time with Mum!

I have to admit that I made it to the TV only in the evenings, and not even every day at that, but crime stories seemed to be omnipresent at Easter! Hubby claps his hands- a day without crime in the evening is a lost day).

There was a time when I liked crime stories, but they've become so brutal in the last decade that I swore off them. The only thing I still watch in this area is Auf Streife, to keep my German vocabulary alive. Besides, it's always fun to figure out whodunnit way before the policemen in the series. Mum is most amused about that.

I am serious! There was about 50 ml of couscous left in the jar and when properly watered with Gemüsebrühe it grew so much it filled a 2-litre dish in the end! Today I threw out half of the leftovers because I couldn't even look at it anymore. Mum volunteered to consume the rest tomorrow. She's a real hero, she is!

I've seen GBBO of course and I've seen the Canadian version but not the Australian version, what's that like?

I quite like it. The judges are very friendly, although the female one wears really odd clothes, considering her age — Mum and I are always making guesses if she had them made of curtains or furniture coverings or whatnot. *g*

The two moderators are rather forcibly "funny" — more silly than actually funny, IMO. Other than that, things are pretty much the same as in the GBBO.

I've noticed a lot of middle aged Australian women seem to like to dress rather flamboyantly.

Your couscous comment had me including a couple of packets in yesterday's shopping delivery. Yum.

Flamboyant is one thing. Ridiculous is another one.

I don't care for couscous. Tried it once and could not finish it. Too bad, as it is supposed to be good for you. All the other left-overs sound yummy! Glad you had a good day.

I won't try it again, either. But we're the sort of people who never throw out food, unless it has gone bad, so we ate the thing (well, most of it) in various occasions until we ran out of it. We did throw out the last leftovers, though. Not even Mum could it bear anymore.
