I was tired all day because I couldn't sleep in the morning - someone was doing something either on our level or above us that caused our front door to rattle, as if there had been a draft... there wasn't. But from 6.15 to 7.30, whenever I nearly fell asleep, the door rattled again, or something was dropped above our head - I wonder sometimes what the lady and her son who live above us might be doing in the mornings, as this wasn't the first time - and I was wide awake again... not to mention royally pissed.

So I got up half an hour earlier than I usually do (and that means more than an hour less sleep than on the average day), since the physiotherapist came in the morning today and Mum likes to be ready waaaaay too early for such things. That meant I had lots of time left, so I made inventory in the pantry (or rather the couple of shelves in the anteroom that serve as our pantry) to see how much candied fruit, cake melts and ready-made icing I have. Results: I have a lot, all I need to buy are orangeat and cranberries. Yay!

The rest of the day was spent with... nothing, really. I worked a bit on the "Pathways" timeline, watched some telly, cooked lunch and was generally lazy.

Poor you, I know how hard it is to have not enough sleep! I so (not) yearn for the cookie baking season-hubby has invited grandchildren to help me with the task. I seriously hope that he´s the one who cleans the kitchen afterwards!

It really is. The rattling isn't loud enough to wake me up when I'm sleeping soundly, but when I'm trying to fall asleep it is really bad.

Being generally lazy is valid after a night/morning like that!

She gets ready early, then has to sit there and wait?

I am happy to see you have some 'lazy' days at last. Time to recharge your batteries...when neighbours co-operate.

That's her way of doing things. Back in 2007, when we made our grand French trip, I couldn't make a quick look-around in the Castle of the Count of Carcassonne because Mum was panicking that we might be too late to meet the rest of the group. We ended up waiting for everyone else for a good 20 minutes, during which I could have hopped through the Castle and got at least an overall impression. I never got to see Carcassonne again — and as things look right now I probably never will. 😢

Yeah. I have some vacation memories like that, too. Except in the worse case, it was my fault. My dad and I were hiking to a lake in Yellowstone, and my knees really started hurting. We still had to hike back. I didn't make it. :(
