I wish I could write short and easy pieces that please people's eyes and minds, instead of struggling with my long and complicated stories that take forever to finish and even the most devoted readers lose interest while waiting.

Damn it! Why must I always be so complicated with my stuff? It's frustrating. And it makes a writer very lonely. And jealous. And bitchy.

For the record:
I am feeling frustrated and jealous and bitchy. So what? I'm almost fifty years old. Age has to have some prerogatives to make up for all that lost time when I was writing for the desk drawer. Which made me write long and complicated stories, as it was bloody unlikely anyone would ever read it.

I'm getting to see some sort of pattern here. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way out. I guess, I won't ever have my personal fanclub again. Had it and lost it at the age of 12, when my classmates went to get my western back from the maths teacher. *sighs*

I love your long and complicated, detailed, and wonderfully researched stories. But I must admit, I looked at your profile on FF.net and under LOTR alone (not counting the Silmarillion) you must have thousands...ai, how do you do it?

As to age, I am 52 and also feeling old and bitchy and frumpy and jealous and...why does every advertisement on television have to show someone 21, sleek, slim, and overly gorgeous. Whatever happened to respect your elders? Even the elves are too young for me, sigh. Millennia (is this not a word?) old and they look like they are 20.

And by the way, you can write short and easy pieces, some just happen to fit in to your long stories. Off the top of my head...Wilwarin, Little Bird, The First Snowdrop (prides herself on remembering titles which she usually forgets) among others. Yes, I admit to reading mostly elves, but once I have a spare minute there are a slew of stories at FF.net I intend to look up.

Lord, woman, I would give my eye teeth to write half as well as you, sigh, and in a second language at that! You do know all artists and creative types are full of self-doubt...seems to come and go in phases. Well, I imagine it happens to us all. Hope you snap out of your doldrums quickly, you are too talented to stay mired in such a rut.

Seriously, you are an excellent writer, all those years of "writing for the desk drawer" show in your work. I do believe you have a lot more "fans" than you know.

*Hugs*
Mira

Oh, dear me! You know you're a good writer, so who cares who is popular?

Some of the 'popular' stories and writers make me shudder. 'Sides, I like your writing.

I love long, complicated stories. I've really enjoyed those stories of yours that I come across (enough to note an "excellent" on the spreadsheet where I keep track of such things).
Haven't yet journeyed beond your elves, but then I didn't know you had a vampire fic .... am a sucker for them :)
Thank you for writing and sharing. I'm sorry you don't feel appreciated, perhaps it may help to remember that many more read than comment, and your stories have reached all the way down here (New Zealand) so they "have legs" as they say in theatrical circles.
Thanks again
