We had another of those bi-weekly flat licking rituals today - which is totally BS, since the guy who cleans the wall-to-wall carpets once a day is supposed to come on Thursday anyway. But I'm not the one who makes the decisions in this family...

Anyway, since the day was f*cked up already, I decided to clean out the fridge. That's something I haven't done for years, literally, and it was overdue, seeing how often we spill things inside it. I wipe it up every time, of course, but that's far from enough.

Since it was basically empty for two days, I chose to attack it before the cleaning lady would arrive (and before the next food run that would fill it up again). It took me two hours, and I had to do it in rates - while the shelves were drying, I cleaned the inside of the door, and then the boxes and so on. It's a good thing that I always trim my fingernails short, or I'd have broken several of them in the process. I swore never to leave it for so long again.

Then the cleaning lady came and - as usual - I helped her moving the furniture around, so that she could reach the corners where the actual dirt was. When she didn't need me, I removed this toilet... thingy that makes the loo 15 centimetres higher, so that Mum can use it without risking another accident. The thing loves to collect dirt and scales under its rim, so it has to be removed and scrubbed regularly. Joy, joy, joy.

When the cleaning ritual was over, I got dressed and went to the Savoy Park shopping centre. I had to go to the bank (which took me an hour and 15 minutes for a 10-minute-transaction - who will give me those 75 minutes back?) and to the Auchan supermarket. Since I was all stressed out already, I also went to Kik and bought more craft supplies. I felt that I've earned this small indulgence. Then I went to the newsagent's and got me the 100-page Bastei crossword puzzle booklet, to keep my German vocabulary a bit more alive.

Weighed down by 3 shopping bags, I then headed home - just when the rain began to fall. Fortunately, it was a very mild one, because using an umbrella in that situation would have been near impossible.

So, that was, basically, my day. We then had lunch (at 5.30pm), which consisted of leftover soup, Wiener Würstchen and some potatoes, and finished the non-alcoholic, fruit-flavoured beer one of my guests left for us after the party. It was the most bizarre drink: It smelled of strawberries, although supposedly sour cherry- and blackberry flavoured, and I can't say for certain what it tasted like. I certainly won't buy something like that myself. I had lemon- and elderberry flavoured non-alcoholic beer quite a few times and I liked them, but this one won't get on the menu permanently.
