Insulation work goes on steadily, so I realized that I needed to clear out the rest of the balcony and to clean the Venetian blinds before they'd be taken away for re-sizing. The balcony part took me half an hour. I was at the Venetian blinds from 11.40 to 15.20. Needless to say that there was no energy left for cooking. We didn't even want the leftovers from yesterday. So we just ate the soup and the rest of the Spitzbuben biscuits.

I hurt in places I never realized exist in the waist and upper leg area. *sigh*

Well, it was the first time they've been taken down in 24 years! A lot of dirt gets caked on things in 24 years.
It was an unpleasant, dirty job , but someone had to do it.

Oh, yes, it was! But I'm glad I did it — at least it is over now.

I have never had to clean blinds because I won't have them. I have heard too many stories from people who have tried cleaning them to know that they are not for me.

It is unpleasant, for sure, but I'll survive. Or so I hope. ;)

We'd be cooked alive in our concrete building without blinds. And I only cleaned them because the firm that's supposed to resize them (for a hefty price) insist on them being clean. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Blinds cleaning is hard work this way.! I put ours into the bathing tub with hot water and lots of dish soap, one at a time, and let them soak for a while then carefully hung them on the shower rack and rinsed them with hot water. Most of them survived the procedure. After a few repeats I sent them off to the rubbish dump and replaced them with opaque curtains.

I hate cleaning blinds. We have them all over the house, as in a rental home, they are required. I take them down and lay them on the driveway/sidewalk, then fill a bucket with soapy water and "mop" them on both sides, rinse with a water hose, and hang them on the fence to dry. It takes all day, but they come out bright white and clean. Still, a royal pain. And, they get dusty and dirty again in what seems like no time. So, I do not envy you one bit. At least, yours are now done and you won't have to do it again for a long, long time.

We'd be cooked alive without our blinds! In summer we have sunshine from late morning to evening, and it's unbearably hot even with all the blinds closed. Perhaps the insulation will help with that, too. *fingers crossed*

Fortunately, I only had to clean the hull of the things, but even so, 24 years' worth of dirt was hard to remove.
