Today, they came to remove our Venetian blinds so that the insulation work can be continued around the windows, too. Never mind that it's frigging hot again, and we get sunshine from morning to evening; either reflected (in the morning) or direct (in the afternoon and early evening). The show must go.

We had to do something against being baked alive, especially since we must count on several weeks before the blinds can be put back on. So my friend Evie came over in the morning and we taped brown package paper on all the windows - like in a film from WWII. But it's a good thing that we did, because barely were we done, the guys who removed the blinds came already (at 2pm - that is two hours earlier than announced).

It was a dusty, dirty event; the blinds are now stored in the corridor, next to the wall, and we all hope and pray that the blind lady from the flat opposite ours won't stumble and break something. More so as not only our blinds are stored there, but those of our neighbour and the lady opposite her, too. They have to stay there because no-one has the actual space to store them anywhere else; since the balconies are getting insulated and painted, too. At least we hope.

And since the size of the window holes will change due to the insulation, the blinds will have to be professionally re-sized before being put back on. For which we'll have to pay extra. And clean the things ourselves or else they won't be accepted for re-sizing.

If I'm mad? Moi? Why should I? These are only the third or fourth unexpected expenses/annoyances/extra tasks within one week!

Argh!

I'm surprised they work Saturday, though.

The Venetian blind removers work on Sunday, too. Presumably because that's when they have the best chances to find the people at home. They have to come into the flat to remove the blinds. They don't do this on workdays, though.

This calls for a lot of comfort food or whatever comfort there is available.

Wait, they're doing all this, and they're making you pay for part of it?

Yes. Such are the (nonexisting) rights of home-owners in this country. Once we've voted for the insulation to be made, we carry all the expenses.

Oh dear, what a chaos with the renovation! I hope they did tell beforehand which additional costs will come with it!

They did. I still find it shameless that they cause the problem and then we have to pay the costs.

Wow! I would complain about the extra expense of the blinds.

Well, it was listed on the first info paper we got after having voted for the insulation to be made, so we can't say that we weren't told. *sigh*

The dust and the mess will be worth it if the problems are actually addressed. Fingers crossed!

Wow, all the extra expenses that you guys have to pay sucks! I truly hope that after all is done, your balcony leak is no more.

So do I. Especially since I've sacrificed my satellite TV (not quite voluntarily) for the good case. [/sarcasm]
