Well, not really... I just couldn't think of a better subject line. *g*

In any case, I got this pretty icon from [livejournal.com profile] sallymn, and it's proper to use it, since this is another crafty post. I've realized that my little felt chef would never stay fixed on the cooking book, so I redesigned the front cover. A coloured paper version of the little chef will be glued onto the cover, while the felt one will get a little pocket inside, from which it can peek out at his heart's delight.

I also selected some craft papers for the actual pages. Found some sheets patterned with lollies, doughnuts, watermelons and various garden fruits, but not enough, by far. You'd think there is more craft paper with food patterns - probably there is, but I haven't been inside a craft shop for ages and still hasn't acquired the skill of internet shopping. Which is probably fortunate, or else I couldn't enter my study by now.

Not much else happened. Mum and I watched "The Bronx Zoo" on Animal Planet until stupid o'clock last night, so we're both a bit battered today. But she still came out to the garbage chute with me, and we even rode the lift to ground level. As it was raining, we made no attempts to leave the house, so no strenuous stairway climbing was involved, but at least she got to move around a bit.

The change to the cover sounds practical and lovely — the felt chef peeking out of a pocket inside the book! Great idea.

You are so right about not shopping online for craft supplies. It's bad enough resisting impulse purchases in craft shops, but online — one click away! Also, it's easy to get lost for hours 'window shopping' online! But one very good thing about it is if you can't get out and about, and really need to find something, such as food-patterned craft papers, you can find them without having to hunt them down in shops. Over the pandemic last year, I have done all my shopping online, and it is so easy and convenient! Of course, I managed to buy a couple of cute notebooks and a book on writing for myself along the way:)

We watched 'A Star is Born' (the one with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper) last night until stupid o'clock (yes! I love that!).

It's unseasonably cold here. The rain has moved on, thank goodness. Cold weather is bad enough, but cold and rain? Errrrgkk!

So glad your Mum is feeling up to a bit of walking! Very good!

Just wondering, has anyone inquired about a June pico? If I missed a post about it, apologies! I will go check now. I should have done so already. RL has been keeping me offline most days.

No. But in the last couple of years we had the session in July, at that's what I'm going to offer to the folks, over at [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo. Firstly because the sessions are more evenly paced if we hold the summer one in July and secondly because June promises to be a bit turbulent for me... well, as turbulent as it can be, with Corona still around.

I'd love to hunt for my necessities online, I'm just such a techno-wheenie that I can't do it on my own.

Especially if you have a 7 square metres study at your disposal, one of the longer walls of which occupied by a double glass door leading to the living room. Basically, there are only two walls out of the four that I can put to any use. *sigh*

Haha yes ... the dangers of online shopping. I've got boxes full of washi tape and stickers in several places in the flat by now.

But... but washi tape and stickers are useful! And pretty! One can never have too many of them! ;))

I will definitely be there for the July Pico.

We just ordered a set of non-stick induction cookware online:) Our oven died last week, and we had to buy a new one, which arrives on Tuesday. It has induction burners, so we needed to get compatible pots and pans.
Our old ones are decades old, and the new set was quite reasonably priced. I'd looked in a couple of stores but wasn't able to find a set that had the sizes of pots and pans we want. So I am very relieved to be getting cookware delivered on Wednesday!

I think the only online skills I have are using LJ, Ao3, and Amazon LOL!

That's a good show. I watch a lot of the Secrets of the Zoo shows.
Go mom.

Online shopping — the bane of my dreams of a minimalist lifestyle. I have stacks and stacks of those under-bed size storage containers; I’d need multiple beds to actually fit my storage under them.

It sounds like Mum is improving fast and that is really good news. At least with regular physio visits you can tell whether she is over or under-doing it.

Haha, I can't do online shopping, and yet my lifestyle is far from minimalistic... as long as it comes to baking ingredients or craft supplies. *g*

We watch that Bronx Zoo show sometimes, also. When you watch it is is subtitled or dubbed?

They do this cheap sort of dubbing where you can faintly hear the original behind the Hungarian narration. *g*

Mom and I watch "Naked and Afraid" together now that Paul isn't here to insist we dont. The European version is in French but they dub it the same way. You can kind of hear them actually speak but it is dubbed over that. When I watch documentaries I prefer they do it that way. I'm usually working on projects while watching so I can't always look at the screen to see the subtitles. On the other hand due to hearing loss ever since my mid thirties I use the subtitles or closed captioning whenever possible.

I like your new little chef idea, seems it will do the trick. Glad to see both you and your Mum out together, even if it is just to the ground level door.
