Aka: how to combine leftovers to produce a full meal. *g*

Well - I decided that the shortcut pastry that beat me yesterday wasn't worth the stomach ache it caused and simply scratched out the filling and warmed it up for lunch, throwing the concrete-like crust away. What can I say, the filling was yummy!

Then I took out one portion of the sliced-up leathery Swiss roll and cut it into tiny little pieces. I also saved the leftover strawberries that were already in death's door and cut them up, too. Then I made red jelly and poured it over the whole thing, successfully cooked the chopped strawberries a bit, so that they'd last another two days or so. When the jelly cooled down, I added a bit of Cremequark, mixed with sweetener, lemon juice and vanilla extract.

This was the result:

And let me tell you, it is fantastic! I foresee at least another four portions of highly creative not-trifle being made from the rest of the leathery sponge!

Other than that, I've made some thoughts about my next project, which will be a birthday gift for Theo (Little Emma's big brother). It will be a children's cookbook, as he likes to help when Mum or Grandma are baking. I've finally found a sturdy enough ringbook in my craft cupboard, and selected some funny-looking craft paper to decorate it. As for the recipes, I've got an actually existing children's cookbook, of which I can take some recipes (not too many, as they aren't all too useful), and then, of course, there's always internet research. ;)

The weather behaved itself today: it was cool yet sunny. Typical, as I don't have to leave the house today. I'm sure the rain will be back, just in time when I go out to the supermarket tomorrow.
