I was supposed to go to Lidl for mineral water and ginger ale today. Well... I didn't go. There was strong wind and some rain and I just felt like sh*t by getting up already.

Mum didn't want to eat the leftover cheese noodles today; she's got a weak stomach and sometimes there are very few things she can eat. In other times she can eat iron nails and nothing happens. *sigh* Anyway, she ate some soup and boiled potatoes and I - I made myself a sandwich. This way I won't have to cook tomorrow, which is good, as tomorrow is laundry day. And the day I'll have to go and get that mineral water and ginger ale. And fresh fruit. And some Aufschnitt - sorry, no idea what it is called in English, and I still haven't managed to deal with Goolge translator.

I've made the cherry cake, and it didn't turn out well. Unlike last time, the middle of it remained somewhat raw and spongy. I scratched out that part with a spoon and ate it to my afternoon coffee. No problem, I like raw dough. There will be a picture later for those who wanna laugh.

The physiotherapist was here, so I don't have to help Mum with her exercises. A small relief is relief, too. I worked a tiny bit on Little Emma's quiet book, finished my notes on a future Star Trek - TOS story, talked to my friend Erna on the phone and made the appointment with our hairdresser. She'll come and cut Mum's hair on Tuesday.

So, that was Friday 14. Re-runs of two different seasons of the GBBO are starting in ten minuets, so I'll go now. Will be back sporadically during ad breaks to play some Solitaire. Perhaps.

cold cuts Pl. (Amer.)
sliced cold meats (Brit.)

I like https://dict.leo.org/englisch-deutsch/

I also like cake that didn't bake through.

Hopefully the weather will get better there so you have some more small relief!

Cold cuts! Which nobody in my family likes. Why ever as we do love Fleischwurst. We are weird. 😁
Good luck with the shopping tomorrow.

If you want to be fancy and middle class in the UK you'd say charcuterie, though that would usually be the fancier cuts and not ghastly processed gakk!

Do you have a microwave? It's not... ideal, but you can blitz disasters in there just to get them cooked through.

Alas, no microwave. I'd like to have one, but there simply isn't enough room in our matchbox-sized kitchen.

As you Germans say: Jedem Tierchen sein Pläsierchen! *g*
We only like very mildly seasoned cold cuts. No fiery sausages or anything like that — do we still count as Hungarians? Well, Grandpa wasn't, plus he had kidney problems, so we've learned to go mild on the seasoning in general.

I know. It is standard diet in our house in such days. Together with boiled potatoes, toast and Apfelkompott. *g*

Thanks for the link. I'll save it for later.

The weather is really being crazy this year. Again, almost no Spring at all. Right now it's autumn, which will go over into summer heat without warning, I guess.

You can use the pieces of baked cake by cutting them up into chunks and making parfait out of them. Just combine them with other fruit or whipped cream or chocolate sauce or pudding or something.

The rest of the cake is actually edible, but thanks for the idea. I'll try it next time.

Glad you put off your grocery trip and got a bit of rest. I read recently that boiled potatoes are actually very good for you, lots of nutrients.
