A twice successful day

First the great news: After almost five months, Mum was out of the house for the first time today. The times the private ambulance took her to appointments don't count. Today, thanks to the insistent urging of the physiotherapist, she actually dragged herself down those 12 steps that divide us from street level and spent a few moments in the sun, in front of the house. It doesn't sound like much, but it is a great step forward for her. Not that I'd dare to repeat the performance without the therapist, at least not yet, but still...

The other, considerably smaller success was that I've finally pinned together the binding of Little Emma's quiet book, so I'll be able to start with the actual sewing tomorrow. Or so I hope. For a twosome family that doesn't go anywhere our days tend to be rather busy. But I'll try. I only have a month left, so it has to be done.

Well, the physiotherapist will certainly insist, so she might be doing this twice a week for starters. As for the rest... we'll see. I'm very much for small, secure steps and patience.

True. Unfortunately, the nearest bench is still outside her reach; and besides, the benches here are too low for her. Sitting down on them would be an ordeal already — getting up would be near impossible.
