No, really! It is Sunday, and thanks to a wonderful invention called the TV Mum attended to Mass. Two masses, actually; first she watched the usual one on a Hungarian channel, and then a German one on ZDF, because she found their music so pretty. I told her that she's in statistical balance now, since she missed Mass last Sunday. (She was crying today during Mass, the poor thing. She missed it so much.)

Other than that, she's as well as she can be, under the circumstances. I've managed to only give her food today that agreed with her (big relief!), and now she's doing the household book-keeping, sitting in her armchair. She was up all day yesterday, and has been up since 7 o'clock in the morning today, which is good. Lying in bed too much isn't good for her.

Due to getting up so early, I actually finished a lot of work before breakfast (which is at 11am in our house, because of my 16-hour-fasting), and had the chance to type up some stuff written before Mum's accident. I dealt with the laundry, I don't have to cook today, so yeah, catching my breath was good.

Hopefully, things will remain quiet and peaceful. We've had enough excitement for one year already.

Fingers crossed you get a peaceful, restful Sunday. You both very much deserve a breather.

Thanks. I've argued her into bed for a couple of hours right now because her ankle was alarmingly swollen from having her leg in a vertical position all day yesterday and today. I hope it will help. I'm very much flying blindly here, and there is no-one I could ask for advice. *sigh*

I know your mum must be entirely happy to be back home, but she really should not overexert her leg. And it´s not only a swollen ankle I am talking about! Her whole body has to recover from last week´s strain!

Get her to go for a lie down each afternoon after lunch so it doesn't get very swollen with being down all day.

My Mum used to put hers up on a footstool when just sitting, but it could be a bit of a hazard — I was not the only family member who fell over it more than once!

It really does sounds as if the two of you are managing well — if she is eating, and enjoying Mass on TV, I would be happy at her progress so far if she was one of my patients.

That is very true. I'll be glad when the physiotherapist comes tomorrow and I can consult her and learn what does help and what doesn't.

That's what I'm planning — getting her lie down for a couple of hours. I'll be glad when we solve the mattress problem: the current heightening of her bed is too soft and it makes for her very hard to get up.

Mum is doing very well, considering she's only been home for three days. Very good news. I hope she can elevate her legs for some time while in her armchair to relieve the swelling.

It's good to hear you're getting caught up with things, and some writing, and feeling more relaxed, at last. It's been a rough week. Take care!

It's good to hear that your Mum is steadily improving. I can't remember the last time I attended a church service, real or virtual.

Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all is well.

We've had a full week of extreme wintry weather. The last time we had it this bad was over 30 years ago. The temperature stayed below freezing for days, and ice formed on roads, cars, telephone and electric wires, trees and tree boughs. We had limbs dropping from the weight of the ice, had to keep water running to avoid the pipes freezing, and most work places closed. In fact, all the interstate highways and main roads closed, and we were advised to stay indoors. Some folks not only lost power, but also water! As of yesterday, the weather finally got above freezing so things could thaw, however, we are still below freezing at night. Basically, our whole state shut down. We are not used to accumulating ice, and our homes are not built to withstand low temperature. I hope another 30 years pass before we get anything like this again. Spring/summer ... cannot come fast enough, heheh. I imagine weather like this is par for the course where you are, but for us, it was truly scary and a huge inconvenience. The good news, is that I switched from my old internet provider to a new one (fiber optic) and for this month, was running dual systems until the old contract runs out. The new provider internet service stayed on the whole week, while the old went out the first day the temps dropped. My computer was the only one still on the old system, so I lost internet, but DH (dear husband) and my son had no interruption. And ... the new service costs 1 1/2 times less than the old. I was so happy to tell the old provider I did not wish to renew!
