I had my first shot in the morning. Despite my fears, it was really painless - I barely felt it. Also, the whole thing was superbly organized, the staff worked like a well-oiled machine, they were friendly, helpful, patient and competent. After getting the shot we had to sit in a large foyer for 30 minutes, in case unexpected allergic reactions would happen (we also had to hand in a document in advance about any possible allergies, illnesses and meds we might be taking), and then we got a tag on which details about the vaccination and the time of the second shot are written. I'll have to go back on March 6.

Mum is making slow progress, little baby step by little baby step. She managed to sleep through the night, which didn't happen once during the week in hospital, and was accordingly stronger and better rested today. I'm slowly figuring out the tricks how to help her better by getting up from bed and onto the commode or into the armchair. We practiced walking today, three times altogether - two to three steps each time, but we walked. My friend Evie dropped by again to provide moral support during injecting Mum. I'm getting less anxious, now that I've experienced how little these thin needles hurt.

Re-learning how to eat properly is another slow process. She barely ate a thing during the week in hospital; as stoic as she usually is in such matters, she simply couldn't get down the cold tea and three-day-old bread and half-cooked meals. Now she gets bad stomach aches from normal food, so we're down to very soft things in small amounts. But we're getting there, eventually.

Still praying for the bone to hold and that no further accidents happen. We'll have to go back for control on February 20. I hope everything will go well. I'll engage the private ambulance again; the same that brought her home yesterday. Those were some decent and well-trained people who actually cared for her well-being.

Glad it's been going well so far bone with Mom and your first vaccination going smoothly.

My mother is on the waiting list now but no saying if that will be a wait of weeks or months...

You'll gradually get into a routine that works for both of you, but it sounds like you're doing pretty well, all things considered.

Glad your first vaccination went well.

Good to hear getting vaccinated was painless. I'm terribly afraid of needles as well, so that is reassuring.

Hope your mum feels better soon and can enjoy her food again.

That would be a good thing indeed. She can't afford losing even more weight.

So do I, believe me! As for the walking part, well, we've got as far as 2 or 3 steps, and even those were hard on her. I can't wait for the physiotherapist to come, so that I can watch and learn what to do and how to do it to help her.

Little by little, things will improve. It already sounds a good deal better than even two days ago. Good for you and your Mum, you will get through this. I'm just so glad for your friend who supports your learning how to do the injections.

Yay, you got your vaccination. I hope you will feel few if any side effects! This is anecdotal, but none of our friends except one had any after+effects from their vaccination.

As they say, you only see who's a true friend when in need. It seems I've got a few very true friends, thank God!

Good to hear your Mum is home and that you got your first vaccination with no problem. Hope your Mum's bone mends without problem and she regains her strength quickly.
