... at least when the dough is rising. By giving Paul Hollywood's iced buns a try, I wanted to speed up the process, and the poor buns ended up growing disproportionally to the side and looked like old slippers in the end. Needless to say that the filling process fell to the side; we simply cut them horizontally, spread some strawberry jam on them and ate them as they were. At least they were tasty, even if baked too long.

Other than that, I finally finished typing up Chapter 15 of Timescapes and posted it to AO3. I'm no longer updating my stuff on FF.Net; at least not as long as AO3 is working.

I also tried to inform my insurance company about the upcoming e-mail address change, courtesy of the frigging provider that simply cuts the service in March. Unfortunately, I used the alternate address to send the e-mail to customer service. I thought that would make sense. Well... they answered me that as this isn't the address listed by them, they can't do a thing. So I'll have to phone them tomorrow and verify that I'm identical with myself, since my PC still has an older operations system that can't make PDF files. Just to be safe I might have to send them snail mail. *sigh* Bureaucracy.

I had a bad rise on a loaf of whole wheat multigrain bread - it rose, then flopped miserably during baking, and wound up looking like an oversized brick!
But like your iced buns, its appearance didn't quite measure up, but it tasted great:)

Congratulations on the chapter! Good going, you:) I have barely looked at the story I nearly finished during November's pico. Just too much holidays and post-holiday busyness in RL, but really, I'm making excuses for my laziness. I'm choosing to spend extra time reading while snuggled under fuzzy blankies:)

Bureaucracy! Don't get me started. I have no patience for any of it. My blood pressure goes up as soon as I need to deal with insurance or retirement or health systems. And I get very, very grouchy. Good luck with the e-mail change. How utterly ridiculous that it's so complicated.

It's never good to try to hurry a yeast dough!

You don't have to make excuses! We've both worked enough all our life, we've earned to be lazy in our... err... mature years. ;)

In theory, I know that. I just get worried sometimes that it won't rise, and then I make stupid mistakes.

I have to admit that my baking experience with yeast dough is limited to pizza only. I think I tried cinnamon buns once, but they turned out dry and tasting of yeast. But today I delved into the world of Youtube and found quite a lot of Turkish recipes with yeast dough. I think I´ll give it another try!

How maddening re: address change! Stuff like that drives me crazy. Sorry the buns weren't up to expectation, but at least they were tasty! That's what counts, anyway ;0)

True, but I'd like them to look good as well. I wanted a fancy dessert, not some old slippers!
