The food run today was unexpectedly pleasant. No crowds anywhere, no empty shelves... it didn't even rain. So I went to Aldi and Lidl, stocked up on everything I thought we might need for the next week, set on staying in the house until at least next Monday. In this spirit, I made an appointment with our hairdresser, because both Mum and I look like a pair of particularly disheveled Neanderthals after an encounter with an ill-tempered mammoth.

However, when I got back and checked my mail, I had a note in my inbox that the monthly eggsies need to be ordered this week. And they'll have to be fetched next Tuesday - on the very day when we'll have the appointment at the hairdresser's. So I'll have to get the eggs on our way home, leaving Mum at the bus-stop nearest to the school because a) she won't be in any condition to walk down the long street to the school and b) I don't want to expose her to nearly 700 children and their various germs, mask or no mask.

Anyway, when we've agreed in this, I hot a phone call from Monica, our music teacher and conductor, asking me if I could get her something from Lidl, since we live next corner from it. So, when I go to order the eggs on Friday, I'll stop by Lidl first and see if I can get the stuff for Monica; dragging a bag full of books with me, meant for my friend Alex's husband. Sounds like the good old days when I was still working and lugging half my household with me every day, for one reason or other. *g*

On a more positive note, two late-comer Christmas cards arrived yesterday, from [livejournal.com profile] akane42me and [livejournal.com profile] elmey, respectively, which was also a pleasant surprise. Thank you, ladies! And I've finally finished Chapter 14 of "Timescapes", after tearing up and rewriting whatever I wrote yesterday, so that's success, to.
