So, since I didn't manage to haul everything home for the next week or so, I had to hop down to the Lidl next corner today. Mum stayed out of it, after all, since it had rained during the night and she doesn't like navigate the wet spots (I momentarily forget the name in English). So do I, but someone has to do it.

The shop was crowded. Absolutely crowded. Even getting in was a difficult task. I understand that people wanted to stock up their alcohol storage for the completely illegal parties, but why that included young parents dragging their toddlers through the unwashed masses is beyond me.

I heroically fought my way through the crowd and acquired my fruits and mineral water with the possible minimum of exposure. I'm so not going out for another week! We have everything we need, I've baked the pastries for my Silvester night Vol-au-vents, we still have that one bottle of champagne I got from our relatives for my birthday a couple of years ago, so we're all set.

I also talked to my friend Evie. She managed to catch a cold while chasing her grandson all over the garden last week, poor thing, but is slowly getting better, which is good.

Puddles! 😁

Mum said the supermarket wasn't very busy here.

Oh, yes, puddles indeed! Thank you! Considering how often I use that word in my more... err... bloodthirsty stories, it's strange that it escaped me. ;))

I hear you, re the unwashed masses. I was going to do a wee bit of shopping before the New Year, but have decided I won't starve for two days if I don't.

I suppose there comes an age where one is either unable or doesn't get joy out of jumping in puddles anymore.

I like to go through them when I'm driving. I even make the "ssssschwooosh" sound as I do it. lol

Yeah, many people driving cars like doing that - leaving us, unprotected walkers, drenched in water and mud.

OKay, that's just being a jerk. I never do it if they're people around. (and where I live, people don't tend to walk anywhere. too far.)

I never thought you wold. But in a big city where lots and lots of people are underway on foot, it is a real problem every time it rains.

:)
Yeah, that is probably annoying. And you get rain there a heck of a lot more than we do, so pretty often, I'll bet.
