So, the cookies from the previous day have all dried properly and could be boxed. Below a pic of the 4 new sorts, being put into the box for Elise:

I swear by Grandma's rolling pin that they look a great deal better in real life; something or other with the illumination (or rather the lack of it) made them look so shabby.

Elise dropped by all for 5 moments to deliver the box for the cookies. She also brought us the Christmas gift of another huge heap of walnuts, flaked almonds, home-made apricot and cherry jam and some chocolates. We agreed no longer make gifts that would only collect dust, forgotten in some corner, only things that can be eaten or used up in a similar manner. Her box is nearly full - I'm up to 21 different sorts of cookies, and I had to put into the box more than one piece by sort, or else the granddaughters would have an epic fight. *g* I'll bake some more next week, so I can fill up the last few corners in that box.

Other than that, we had a TV marathon of several GBBO re-runs, as well as the current episode of the German version, and I cooked lunch: that very yummy potato cream soup the recipe of which I found on some Hungarian website or other and cheese noodles with tuna. We both love canned tuna. Not the peak of culinary raffinesse, I know, but we are pedestrian people. ;))

I also took a one hour nap in the afternoon, which worked wonders for me, and climbed onto the ladder to dig out Mum's favourite Christmas tablecloth from the top of the wardrobe. That's enough sport for a day, I think.

My Good Thing of the day:

Meeting Elise. Events like that always beat everything else.

Not everyone can be as obsessed as I am. Besides, as I've repeatedly mentioned, this is my consolation prize for a f*ed up Christmas.

I hope my card will reach you soon, too.

I love tinned tuna and cheese on a baked potato. Not the height of culinary fineness either, but who cares?

Yay for pedestrian comfort food! I ate that baked potato with cheese and tuna once, at Covent Garden, when we made a package holiday in London, some 20+ years ago. It was glorious.

I know there are also an Irish and an Australian bakeoff but I've never had the opportunity to watch them.
