Today, I was baking heavily. Here are the results.

Hazelnut hearts, filled with apricot jam:

Eierbrezeln, Pignoli and Pine nut-almond cookies:

FYI, both Eierbrezeln and Pignoli are marzipan-based cookies.

The baking frenzy ate half my day, but it was sooo worth it! Then I took a nap while my bedroom was bathing in sunshine, which was wonderful, had long phone chats with two friends and am about to upload the next chapter of "Elvenhome" to AO3, despite the definite lack of interest.

My Good Things of the day:
- Having seen the sun for the first time in days;
- Getting a lovely e-card from [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland
- Managing to write a few paragraphs.

Firstly, thank you for the lovely card, it arrived this morning, our first of the year.

The cookies look so good - I like the sound of the marzipan ones especially. Are you giving them away as you bake or do they keep well?

They keep very well indeed. I put them into tin boxes and store them on the unheated balcony, so they keep easily until Christmas. I'm going to give away at least half of everything I bake to various friends, leaving enough for a selection that would get us through the holidays. *g*

I'm glad the card arrived safely and that you liked it. :)

I bake to give away at this time of year, too, but worry about things that should be crisp going soft, so tend to do a lot of the biscuits at the last minutes.

They look so nice and tasty! I was baking some more today, too.

Yes, that's always a real danger - or the other extreme, that they'd become bone hard.

I love marzipan!
I used to bake stuff to give to my friends this time of year too. I hate covid.

Don't we all? What I also miss desperately are the Christmas light all over the city. The main roads are usually wonderfully decorated with them, but where I live there isn't any of it. Ten-storey concrete monstrosities aren't really suited for Christmas wonderland. :(

Stimmt.

In my home, while the baking frenzy would have eaten 1/2 my day; the feeding frenzy of my family would have eaten over 1/2 of my baking! XD

I can imagine that! Since there's just Mum and me, here the chance that the things would get eaten too soon is somewhat lesser. ;))

Every year I say I will make something like cookies or sweets to give as Christmas presents. Every year I chicken out. Your efforts look so pretty.
