You see, today was shopping day. On shopping days I usually set off around 9am, collect the food that's never to be found in the same shop, if I'm very lucky I even can drop in to KIK or the local (tiny) craft shop and be home around 11am, which is the time for my first meal of the day. (Still doing the 16-hour-fasting diet - I've been doing it for over a year by now.)

Well, the government in their infinite wisdom decided that the best thing to protect senior citizens (age 65 and above) from the virus would be if they set up a time slot when only they are allowed to do the shopping. They chose the time slot between 9am and 11am. That's right. Exactly when I always go to the shops.

We already had something similar during the Spring lockdown. Only that back then the oldies weren't allowed to go to the shops any other time than between 9am and noon. Now they can (and do) go whenever they want, but they still had their exclusive time slot when the rest of us cannot. I really don't see any sense in it, save for the fact that it cuts everyone else's day in half.

I was particularly pissed because my plan for today was to do the shopping at the usual time - including a big sheet of black card stock that I needed for the advent calendar book but didn't have any at home - and then finish the advent calendar after breakfast. Alas, our fearless leader announced the 'senior shopping time' yesterday evening! They keep doing this: announcing such things just hours before they happen. How in seven hells are we supposed to adapt to the changes in time?

So, my day was basically wasted. I set off for the shops at half past 11, but since I didn't have the materials I needed, I couldn't do my crafting in the morning instead. When I got home two hours later, I had to make lunch - and honestly, afterwards I wasn't in the mood to do anything creative.

Plus, my friend Elise was tested positive with the virus - she's the second one from my smallest circle of friends, which is discouraging. So far she's doing well enough, only her sense of smell is gone, but still... She says as long as it doesn't get any worse she'll put quarantine time to good use as she's got a huge backlog of housework she never got to do because of all the stuff she has to do at school. I'm crossing my fingers and praying that it won't get any worse. *sigh*

Compared with that, shopping schedules are really just a small annoyance.
