So I'm scheduling my crafting and writing activities for the morning hours - unless something happens.

Today, I've cut out the outside of the drawstring bag I decided to make, just for fun, and made the pre-sewing part of two more cherry stone pillows, as my friend Elise has saved (and dried) for me the stones of 20 kilograms (!) of sour cherries. Her parents have a fruit garden, and they make cherry wine each year. I'll fetch the stones on Monday (when I'm hopping over to give her the baby book for her granddaughter), see how much that exactly is, and if Louise (the baby sewing machine) and I will need to make some more pillow cases. It's a good thing that I still have some leftover fabric.

Writing, however, fell flat today, as I got a long call from a dear friend who desperately needed some moral support. It was a time well spent, but I was in no shape to wrestle with the complicated fighting scene afterwards. Ah, well, tomorrow will be another day.

In the afternoon, the janitor finally showed up with his plumber buddy and they completely overhauled the sink tap in the bath. I hope it will last because right now it works like a charm.

And I got an e-mail from Anna, our lovely school secretary, who sent me the template to this little darling:

I made three of these bears for the Christmas fair while we had our little sewing club at school but forgot to copy the template. I'm very glad that Anna found it because I'm planning to make such a bear for Baby Emma (who, being more than a year old already, is no longer such a baby, after all) for Christmas.

Mum volunteered to cook today. Fortunately, we had some leftover soup of the one I improvised yesterday, so she only had to make a potato gratin with hard-boiled eggs and a bit of creme freche. More than enough on such a hot day.

On the plan for the rest of the day: watching "Money for Nothing" and "Forged in Fire", later in the evening. Lovely programmes that require no brain activity whatsoever.

Yeah, save for the fact that for some unfathomable reason he turned off the water in the toilet, and Mum came in panic later on that she can't flush it. I had to climb onto the ladder (oh, horror), and randomly poke at different parts of the water tank, until I found the thing with which to turn on the water again. I'm still not sure I've done it properly, so tomorrow we'll call the janitor again, just to be sure.

I think you and Louise are going to be busy. 20 kg of cherry stones! Years ago I had a pillow filled with crushed hazelnut shells, I think that was it, I got it for my husband who snored horribly, and the pillow was touted as helpful for snorers. 1) He hated it. 2) It did not help the snoring. So the pillow became mine. I used it for quite a while, then tired of it and went back to my favorite type of pilllow, a firm feather pillow.

The phone call with your friend is a wonderful trade-off with writing time. I'm glad you were there when she called.

Hooray for the bathroom tap repairs! So glad the janitor finally showed up, and with a plumber, no less! Excellent. Most excellent.

Love the bear, I'm glad your friend found the template. Baby Emma = lucky little one.

It's so hot here, I find I have a small appetite. Your lunch sounds yummy!

We're watching 'Godless' on Netflix tonight. Enjoy your shows!

I don't think the stones themselves are 20 kg; they are the stones of 20 kg cherries. Still a handsome amount, so yeah, Louise and I will be busy indeed. Especially as these are mini pillows, meant to be heated or chilled, to ease back and neck pains or insect bites, respectively, so there will be a lot of them. I couldn't sleep on one, either. Fortunately, it isn't their purpose.

I hope the one I'll make for Emma is going to be equally. One never knows how they turn out. A lot depends on the fabric.

That would be something about 40°C, right? I don't envy you!

It was very hot over here, too... until an hour ago. Strong winds came up then without warning, and now we can't even open the windows as we always do in the evening and have to worry about our satellite dish and the possibility of stormy rains and a leaking balcony. *sigh*

Sigh, we won't have rain for a very long time yet. All we have is cloudless skies and heat.

Thank goodness you got your leak fixed! Also, glad you were able to obtain the bear template, the ones you made last year were precious! Baby Emma will love hers, I am sure.

It looks that way, yeah. If the annual charity fair falls victim to the virus this year, I'll simply give them to my colleagues as gifts.
