Today there was a mandatory gathering at school, and our two expecting mothers were there, too. So I dropped by early on to give them their baby books. They seemed to like them, so I'm content. Unfortunately, this visit also meant that I had to skip one of the food runs because we were waiting for the bloke who checked our heating counter. But at least I met a bunch of other colleagues as well. It was a nice encounter, for all the 20 minutes it lasted.

We've been fortunate with the weather so far; the big storms went other ways and all we had was slow, steady rain with no balcony leakage. Which means nothing for the next few days, so we're a bit scared about the upcoming weather patterns. I really wouldn't like to wade shin-deep in rain water on the balcony! At least the threshold is high enough... or so I hope.

In crafting news, I've finished another couple of pages for Baby Book #3; I ought to take some photos tomorrow, should the illumination be right. It shapes up nicely. I also have three more tin cans that I ought to turn into more pencil holders, and I realized too late that I shouldn't have thrown out all those cherry stones. I could have sewn a pillow or two filled with them. (They are very good as warm flasks, or even as cold packs, depending on the need.)

Such a fool I was! Now I've phoned and written friends and family of whom I know that they make preserves and fruit cakes and begged them not to do the same but save the stones for me. We'll see what happens. I wanted to make the pillows for the Christmas fair, assuming that there will be one this year, so we still have some time.

I also looked up quick and easy ways how to make oils and vinegars flavoured with various spices like garlic, estragon, thymian and the likes, as I've got a few small glass flasks that were too pretty to throw out. Perhaps I'll give that a try, too.
