B/c, in my not-so-humble opinion, Aidan Turner would have looked a much better Dwarf if PJ & Co had allowed him to have a decent beard. Judge for yourself:

And if they wanted to go with the archers-can't-have-much-facial-hair theory, they should have had his hair pulled back into a topknot, too, as he was wearing it sometimes. Because loose hair gets caught in the bowstring just as easily as beard if not properly braided. (Which tells us a lot about the idiocy of Legolas wearing a veritable curtain of unbraided hair, but that's another matter entirely.)

Not that all this would be important - just another reason why I don't like the PJ films.

Yes - he looks much more dwarf-like with his beard grown in properly!

And a lot less stupid, I'd say. But again, many of the Dwarves were completely robbed of their dignity in those films - starting with poor Gimli and ending with poor Ori and Bombur. One wonders why Thorin would choose a bunch of complete idiots to perform the greatest task of Dwarven history. Well, in the Third Age anyway.

Handsome.

Devilishly so, and even hairy enough for a Dwarf. ;))

Oops ... why don't you like the films? Love them!

Because I'm a die-hard book fan and find that the films go against the very soul of Tolkien's writing. Not to mention most of the casting choices that I found horrible, in all six films. Starting with Frodo who can make me climb the walls when he only appears on screen. And then there are the plot twists and the character assassination and all that.

I know I'm quite alone with my violent dislike of PJ's vision of Middle-earth. But I consider his version visual fanfic where the ego of the author has run rampant. The only thing I like in the films - in The Hobbit more than in LotR - is the artwork of WETA, which is stunning. That, and Martin Freeman's Biblo. That was amazing... when the PTB remembered that this story was about the Hobbit, originally, and not war and monsters.

Sorry for the rant. Feel free to ignore me and keep loving the films. Different people are entitled to different opinions, after all, right? :)

Thank goodness yes. Just imagine we all liked the same things!
