Birthday Party - The Second Coming

As you all know by now, LJ has decided to crash our birthday party - the original post is no longer visible. But some of us still had most of the comments in our inbox and decided to reconstruct the original party as well as we can, because we had great fun and the discussions were wonderful.

However, to avoid the same mishap occurring to us, we've decided to open up a second entry for further comments while working on rebuilding the original. We still have two days left, and we won't allow LJ to crash our party!

The original entry had 1328 comments, on 6 pages. The reconstructed party has now 500+ (all reposted within one day and a few new ones added), having reached Page 7 already.

Let's see what else can we come up with. New guests are welcome to share the fun. :)

Somebody somewhere said that while Season 1 of SGA was the best, they liked the later seasons, too, because of Major Lorne.

In a new thread considering TV and fantasy, I said:

I watched Disney's version of The Black Cauldron tonight - an nimated film for children. It had nothing to do with the actual "Prydain Chronicles"... well, nothing save the names and a few basic situations, but it was kind of cute. I actually liked it, to my own surprise as I'm extremely vary about film adaptations as a rule. But since I didn't expect it to be any good, it was a pleasant surprise.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2012-10-09 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
To which [livejournal.com profile] jenn_calaelen answered:

Before I'd go on with the reconstruction work - which is really hard on the wrist - let me tell you about my day.

On my first lesson, the girls of my 7th grade GErman class surprised me with having baked muffins for my birthday. We have a big, colourful piece of wand calendar where everyone has written his birthdays in half a year ago and then forgotten about it, but for some reason the girls have spotted the day.

Well, in any case, the first part of the lesson was spent consuming muffins. *g*

After I got home, Mum and I had coffee and ate some of my biscuits, just to keep up the direction. Then I got a shiny per post: "The Art of The Hobbit" by Tolkien - meaning a wonderful book with Tolkien's own drawing and paintings to "The Hobbit", with a beautiful card, all courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris.

Then we went to the cemetery and afterwards ate out - which was excellent. I was so stuffed that sent Mum home by tram and walked all the way. *g*

In the afternoon I had a few birthday calls - mostly relatives, but also my ever-favourite ex-student, who called from a different city where she goes to unuiversity. Also, I called [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris to thank her for the shiny - it was great, hearing her voice again, after two years. Phone calls going abroad are ridiculously expensive, but hey, you don't get 56 twice, right?

Then I did some crossword puzzle, read some Sherlock fanfic and came back to the party. ;)

I said on October 6:

I know it isn't really a party topic, but since we're already sharing, I thought I'd point out that October 6 is a day of tragic historic ignificance for Hungarian people. It is the memory day of the 13 martyrs of Arad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_13_Martyrs_of_Arad). It is a national holiday if it doesn't fall on a Saturday anyway, and we all learn to recite those 13 names by heart at school.

Yeah, we're a strange people. We can celebrate our defeats and tragedies most splendidly. We still haven't quite figure out how to celebrate the *good* things, though.
