Only slightly obsessive, honestly

Today I went to the craft supply shop and used some of my gift cards to buy stuff for the quiet books I'm planning to make for Christmas. Not for the fair but for Baby Emma's big brother and colleague E's granddaughters, so if they turn out to be Easter gifts in the end that will be fine, too.

When I got home, it was already too late to have a little break before starting to cook the midday meal, unless we wanted to have lunch in the afternoon. We didn't. So I went right on cooking - because I wasn't hot enough yet, eh? It was a fine meal, at least.

I had a break in the afternoon, falling asleep over my laptop, but after that I switched to the main PC and spent several hours with transcribing how to make quiet book pages, step by step. I managed three pages in as many hours. It promises to be a mammoth project, even though our art teacher promised that I could use one of the sewing machines at school for the trimming, at the very least, which is a relief. It makes trimming easier and sturdier, but I don't have a sewing machine myself. I don't even have the space where to put it, so using one at school will be a relief.

Other than that, I didn't do much. It was so hot, I couldn't even think straight. They promise rain for the beginning of next week. I only hope it won't be a stormy one, because of the dratted balcony. *sigh* It is a sad life when even promised relief causes you anxiety.

We're back to summer weather here as well - forecast is for 34° for next week. Meh!

My only consolation is that - unlike my poor colleagues - I no longer have to go to school, to take part in the insane and completely unnecessary meetings, starting next Monday.

I know what you mean about space. I have to use my sewing machine on a little fold-down table

Yeah, it is annoying when taking out and putting away your supplied takes twice as much time as the actual work. *sigh*

I know what you mean. I’m dreading, absolutely DREADING, next summer. (We’re in winter now). I hate the heat with a fiery (!) passion.

You are not the only one. Not that I'd like being cold, either. Nice and peaceful 20-26 degrees Celsius is my comfort zone. Alas, it is a rare phenomenon in these days. Proper spring and autumn seem to have vanished somewhere.

Hugs, Hot weather is horrible.

It is. The funny thing is, our summers are always hot. I remember the first years we moved here, we even used to sleep with every single window wide open, or else we'd have suffocated. Only that we don't dare to do so anymore. General safety has plummeted into previously unknown depths. Plus, we've got older and can tolerate heat even less than before.

If your balcony was in good shape, would it be the kind of thing you'd sit out on?

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2019-08-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Rarely. I'm a cage dweller by nature. Granny used to sit there a lot when it wasn't too hot, and Mum does it sometimes. It's pretty nice by moderate weather (and no rain), we had it re-painted and everything two years ago, it's just the dratted leakage that we can't have fixed.

Got it.

Posting late, things have been hectic. I feel for you on the hot weather, being either too hot or too cold is miserable. The spring we have here is almost non-existent, but wonderful. Winters are wet and cold and summers okay until July and August with their excessive heat.

Welcome back! You've been missed!
