Still flat on my face

Two days into school and I'm fed up with it already. And the kids haven't even arrived yet! We're gonna have a fairly idiotic school year again, though, and even with only having to survive 3 months, I'll get the short end of the stick in some things. For starters, we'll have to work on 4 bleeding Saturdays in exchange for days that are going to be work free - at a later time when I won't be working any longer. The last one on December 1, just 4 days before I cease labouring!!! Brrr!

On the other hand, I made some decent progress with the needle book project. The first one is almost done, and I cut out the pieces and arranged most of the decoration for another four that will either go to the Christmas fair or be given to various colleagues as presents. I'm also planning to do some Christmas-themed pocket letters and a few more Christmas cards. Other than that, I intend to do some more opulent Christmas baking this year, now that I'll actually have the time to do so.

Writing-wise the restart of school had a numbing effect. Inspiration went right down the toilet, and I don't expect it to return any time soon. I do have some tentative hopes for the November session of picowrimo, even though November isn't really a good time for me - yet.

Sorry for the whining. I'm just not in my best form right now.

Oh man these working Saturdays are so annoying! Aaaand since your boss is a jerk, I'm guessing there's no chance you can get recompensed for these in any way while you're still working?

Nope. But I'm comforted by the thought that she'll have a really hard time to find some other poor idiot to replace my colleague who retires in early November and myself one month later.

Working Saturdays is out of order with no time off in lieu, no chance of getting paid for them?

Nope. These Saturdays are ersatz working days for the cases when a national and religious holiday gets extended to form a long weekend. The other colleagues will get their free days for it, but in my case it won't really count as I won't be working any more at that time.

That sounds pretty unfair that you have to work the Saturdays even though you don't get the extra days off ... meh!
