The Old Smithy in Vienna...

... is a place that all Dwarves would love, I'm sure. It will also serve as a great inspiration to go on with my Dwarf stories (or so I hope *crosses fingers*)

There are a few photos behind the tag, to give you a general impression.

Where in Vienna is this place? I have to see it in person if I ever get to Vienna again!

It's called "Alte Schmiede" in German and can be accessed through Nr 7A, Schönlaterngasse. It's perhaps a 10-minute-walk from Stephansplatz (probably even less for you), but it's not easy to find as it's a crooked little lane, hidden among other crooked little lanes.

Generally, you can start by going down Rotenturmstrasse and try one of the lanes on the right... and then ask the locals, many times... ;))

Then, when you're there, you'll come to a room that looks like the reading room for some sort of newspaper or magazine and ask the person sitting there nicely to show you the "Alte Schmiedewerkstatt". They'll take you into one of the side rooms, make light and lo and behold! you'll find yoruself in the Old Smithy.

It's free to visit, and they even let you take photos, as you can see.

Thanks for the directions! I'm definitely saving them for the day I get back to Vienna.

It's definitely worth a visit. The Basilisk House at Nr 9 is interesting, too.
