4. Lord Agravaine DuBois was an ambitious man, with a keen eye for power and position at court; had always been.
5. The realm that Arthur Pendragon, Crown Prince of Camelot, had to rule in his father's stead – while King Uther was slowly recovering from the time spent in his own dungeons during Morgana's reign – was in a shambles.
6. Náli entered Bree following the Great East Road westwards. By that time, he had had a very long journey behind him – one that had begun in Rhûn, years earlier, where his entire family had been killed by the enraged Easterlings when trying to pilfer the halls of a powerful chieftain.
7. Doctor Thomas Milligan had the habit to get up in the grey hours of the morning; it was a habit he’d developed while working in Africa for Physicians Without Borders.
8. "Doctor Z, may I ask you a question?"
9. Few samurai had ever loomed so large in Japanese history and lore as Minamoto no Yoshitsune, the brilliant young warlord of the late Heian era and the unquestioned hero of the Genpei War, whose military genius won most of the major battles for his brother, the Kamakura shôgun.
10. It was early autumn in the 1143rd year of the Lord when the sad but not entirely unexpected tidings of Mother Mariana's parting reached the Abbey of St. Peter and Paul in Shrewsbury.
11. Autumn in Deheubarth, the south-western kingdom of the Welsh countries, was usually a cold, rainy and altogether unpleasant affair.
12. Ianto Jones could feel himself waking up… but in that half-dream state where the line between dream and reality is blurred.
13. The cell was barely long enough for her to stretch out; and she was a rather short person as convicts go.
14. Tosh hated to go to Torchwood One.
15. Dr. Paul Avakum, the most gifted engineer of his generation, not only on Earth alone but on all the human colonies, stood brooding on the observations deck of Skylab 273, a small communications satellite in stationary orbit above the domed city of Utopia Planitia, one of the semi-independent Mars Colonies.
16. Toshiko Sato slipped into her borrowed lab coat, fastened her name tag on the coat's breast pocket, pulled her long, dark hair back into a tight ponytail and swallowed nervously.
17. November of the year 1141 of Our Lord was an unusually mild one, with the grass still green on the pastures, the winds gentle and the skies lightly veiled, announcing a similarly mild winter to come.
18. Their ongoing battle was an eternal cycle; an immortal struggle that had been going on for almost nine hundred years, and it would go on for another nine hundred years, unless one of them finally managed to kill the other one. (Actually, I cheated here, as this is the second line...)
19. Scandals were a rare thing in the reserved circles of Caprican nobility; even minor ones.
20. Colin Freeman enjoyed working aboard the Enterprise very much.
As for finding any pattern, well, it seems that while I write in literally dozens of fandoms - if one count crossovers separately - I write them in blocks: for a while in two or three main ones, than switching to other main ones and so on. Not that that would be new information, mind you. It's something I knew already.

As you can see, Torchwood and Dr. Who have been much on the programme lately.
