Mum and me decided to do a traditional Christmas tree this year - the kind with blown glass ornaments and stuff, as it was in her childhood - and mine, too.

This is the result:

To compare with how I usually decorate my Christmas tree, see an example from last year:

Personally, I prefer the style from last year - it's more natural, more balanced and, IMO, more pretty. But Mum was feeling nostalgic, and I wanted to do her the favour.

And finally, a selection from this year's cookie production:

The tree(s) are lovely and those cookies - wow! Hope you and your Mom have a Merry Christmas!

We do, thanks - what about you?

We are going to my Aunt's home for Christmas dinner. Should be fun.

Especially as you won't have to cook yourself, eh? You must tell me what a Christmas dinner looks like in your corner of the world. If doable, I'd like to try something new next time.

Or you can just post the recipe to Edhellond. We're still doing the big holiday recipe exchange on the list. ;)

Christmas Dinner

Shrimp Remoulade
Roast Turkey or pork roast or both
Turkey or pork gravy depending on above
Cornbread dressing
Dirty Rice
Plain rice for the kids
Green bean casserole or some other type green vegetable dish
Baked Sweet Potatoes
Spiced Peach salad
Assorted cakes and pies for dessert. If at my house I usually make Creme de menthe ice cream with green coloured cherries and family brings the cakes, etc.

Post the recipe? I don't bake cookies and such but can post the recipes for the other dishes. Is that what you mean? None are fancy, just dishes that can be refrigerated and kept cool or re-heated until ready to serve.

You can post any recipe you'd like to share. I've created a data table especially for group recepies, where you only need to add the details, over on the Edhellond list.

I find it interesting to learn how people in other countries cook or bake - it widens the horizon, don't you think? ;)

Recipe

I posted a recipe to the group. It is a dessert my grandmother used to make which I absolutely loved, full of calories and my forbidden food (due to allergy), eggs. It is not my grandmother's recipe as that I lost long ago in a move, but the closest equivalent I could find on the web. I was so excited I found it, that I am going to try and make it this weekend.

They might have a bad reputation, but IMNSHO calories are a good thing, actually. You must tell me what the dessert turned out like. Thanks for posting it to the group.
