New sci-fi story

The sequel to "Crossroads", titled "The Joy Machine", has been posted to FF.Net and to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib. There is a more complete version on the LJ comm; the best way to find it is to go right to the Memories.

But, only that you won't have to leave without the daily rant from me: since I've got this frigging Windows XP installed on my computer, the Star Trek Encyclopedia wouldn't run on it. Granted, it's an Ages-old version, but it ran just perfectly on Windows 95. And on Windows 98. Now I can throw it out or wait sixty-two years until one of my male acquaintances generously lowers himself enough to get over here and take a look at the problem.

I hate being such a PC-idiot!

Besides, since startrek.com had its very least facelifting, the site is barely usable. I hate that, too.

I'm sorry to tell you that lots of stuff that worked beautifully on windows 95 and 98 will not work with the new windows XP operating program. I don't think there is a fix for it, at least I haven't seen one, because I had the same problem when my old computer had it's hard drive melt down last october. Usually you have to go buy the upgraded versions of programs, :-(. I have lots of wonderful information on discs that I can't get to unless I purchase an external plug in disc drive because over here all the new desktops for the last couple of years have only CD drives. It is indeed frustrating.
