I moved "Elvenhome" from the LOTR-section to the Silmarillion section. It's so heavily loaded with stuff from the Lost Tales that it'd more likely find interested readers there. Let's hope the purists won't tear it apart.
Nah... I don't think that will happen. It *is* a HoMe-ish story though, and purists will be conflicted when they tear. Whose to say what is the 'right' canon when it comes to something like the Lost Tales, right?
But 'Elvenhome' won't be as easily lost in the pile in the Silm. section, though, and that's good. :)
Theoretically, it's scheduled for this weekend. Practically, I'm still waiting for some of the regular readers to get around reading the latest chapter. I must not spoil them, you know. *g*
I suspect you're right; most of the people hanging around in the LotR section of ff.net these days appear to be fangirls who've never even HEARD of HoME, much less read it.
For what it's worth, I've been reading Elvenhome and enjoying it a lot - I've just become horribly backlogged with my reviewing recently as a result of moving. Stupid house...
Yeah, well, I'm rather sad about the LOTR-section of ff.net. I'm a Third Age person, mostly, and it's almost impossible to gain new readers as most serious ones flee the whole section because of all that crap. For my part I still believe it strongly that it's still possible to write good LOTR-fic... even though nobody else but my closest friends will find it. Ever.
On the other hand, I think getting nestled in your new home is more important than any other thing you might be doing, right now. Our stories won't go anywhere... unless, of course, somebody reports us because of the capital offenses of good writing and the lack of OOC-ness.

I feel sad about the ff.net LOTR section, too. And I feel sorry for the new readers who go there, read a few of the truly atrocious stories, and go away thinking that all fanfiction is garbage - all because they never stumble over one of the few good fics posted there.

Which, knowing ff.net, is always a possibility! Thank goodness for the other Tolkien archives out there (such as Edhelond, and the Hidden Archives)!

Of course it's possible. And I suspect your readership is wider than you appreciate.

I'm hoping that by the beginning of next week, I'll have things more-or-less under control (at least as far as unpacking and settleing in is concerned), and I'll have more time again for fandom-related activities.

So, erm... when's the next update? :P
