The day after

... the doll disaster was marked by a defiant attempt to prove myself that I can still sew. In this spirit I cut out the necessary parts for a toy elephant - a fairly simple pattern that I hope I'll be able to finish in a couple of days. *fingers crossed*

I also baked Mum's favourite savoury scones that nearly ended in a disaster, too, as I only realized in the last moment that I forgot the butter (well, margarine). Fortunately, I could still add it in time, and the yummy, cheesy things turned out every bit as well as always.

Other than that, I was a bit out of sorts all day. We had laundry day and watched some telly, but I felt so tired all the time I had to lie down three frigging times! Frayed nerves, most likely. And I had such ambitious plans for today, regarding of decluttering and transcribing and the likes... nothing of it happened. :(

At least I got a phone call from a former colleague of mine (now retired like myself), who noticed that I haven't been to choir practice twice in a row and called to see if I was okay. That was really nice of her. Sometimes I get the feeling that if I didn't call people I wouldn't get to speak to any living thing for weeks. Phone calls like this prove me wrong from time to time, and that does my poor soul good.

Okay, stopping the self-pitying feast now because it's pathetic.

Hugs. Some days are awful.

That they really are.

That's nice that she called you.

She is a very kind person. She helped me getting this console/bedroom loo/whatever right when Mum broke her leg, since I'm useless when it comes to online shopping. That was enormous help back then, in the middle of the pandemic.

How nice.

You sound exhausted. I hope you find a day or two of low stress soon.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2025-01-26 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
You see, the problem with daughterly duties is that while I'm grateful I still have the chance to perform them, they drain on my strength with the thousand little things every day. Which is why I keep postponing other things that need to be dealt with *points at to-do-list*, which again causes me even more stress in the long run... a damned hamster wheel if you've ever seen one. Add the fact that my last day off was in 2019 — yeah, I am exhausted.

Only when I logged into Pinterest later and was able to enlarge the picture I found the real problem you were talking of! So what- it´s still a pretty doll, and the girl will like it! And isn´t it `great to get phone calls of the nice sort?

I hope you are right. And yes, phone calls like that are balm for the soul.

Oddly I was making cheese scones yesterday, too.
