Sad, sad things

School starts tomorrow again. 'nuff said.

My poor Orcses got swallowed on FF.Net without notice. I expected it, as this is the fate of all stories that don't have hott Elves or Men innit (although it has Éomer), but it's still a sad, sad thing. But, well, most of my regular readers (all four or five of them) have left the fandom during the recent year, so that's it, I guess. At least on SOA one can still hope to be found by accident.

Erm... have I mentioned already that school starts tomorrow?

If it brings you any comfort at all to know, most of my regular reviewing have stopped reviewing me, too, and more than half of them are still in the fandom. *sigh*

You write wonderfully, so don't let it get you too down. ((((S))))

Yeah, and those who'd be willing to R&R, as the fankiddies say, are so battered by RL, the poor dears, that they just can't get it done. I understand that. I even accept that. But it still makes me sad.

I love your icon, BTW.

I think a lot of people have stopped reviewing, perhaps a time thing? I know my old stories are being found by accident, so there is hope yet!

Yes, that's right. I'm still sad that I've lost most of my regular readers, though. For whatever justifiable reason. The reason won't change the fact, right?

No probably not. I guess you hope for some new readers? It seems the only thing to do.

I don't think that it is necessarily because of the story's theme not being in conformity with the standards of post-film FFnet fanfics (though Orcs are hard to sell), but simply because most people (myself included) read more silently than they review :) Don't let this get you down

I just wish FF.Net had a hit counter, too. Who in the heck am I supposed to know if anyone still does read? :(

The great in SoA is that even though they are no reviews, I can see that *insert number* persons have at least taken a look. But the greater part of my stories won't fit to SoA...

Your story will find readers, never fear. The problem is that everything posted on ff.net gets buried quickly, and now that we're in the post-movie slump, I get the feeling even active readers aren't reviewing as much as they once did.

Yes, I know all the reasons. But it's still frustrating, you know. I naive thing hoped that after the movies are gone, the HOTTT actors doing something else, the fandom would be less overflooded with teenage fantasies and people who are actually interested in Tolkien and genuine Tolkienfic would grow stronger again.

Ah, well, my mistake, I guess.

Unfortunately, I don't think there was much interest in "genuine Tolkienfic" prior to the movies. The fandom then was extremely small, and it looks like it's in the process of contracting again now that the movie excitement is ebbing (although I doubt it will ever be as small a fandom as it was pre-PJ).
