Reverse hibernation

... is still going on. We do what we can in the morning, close the blinds and the windows around 10am and sit in complete darkness until 8pm. Everything else that has to be done gets done by artificial light. Around 2pm I'm completely drained and have to lie down and sleep an hour or two. Then I amble around in the flat, change clothing, hang up the sweated through items to dry and do as little as possible. Reading on Methuselah-the-laptop is a favourite... actually the only possible thing, as the ancient one no longer connects to my solitaire website. And since none of the more advanced gadgets have ever been capable to do so, this particular site is now lost to me, after a decade and a half of faithful visits. :(

Anyway, we had 35 degrees today again, so we were both a bit wilted. Still, I've finished stitching Card #26 (Mary with the candle) and applied the finished work to a double card. I wasn't happy with the colour of the latter, so I added some sequins; I hope it didn't end up as total kitsch.

For social life, I called H. and we exchanged our misery about the weather. At least the younger generation is on holiday somewhere, so she doesn't have to cook for them and perform other grandmotherly duties.

Tomorrow I'll continue the cleaning with the balcony and the hall, for which I've done most of the necessary preparations. The plan is to do the living room and the bedroom on Thursday; then I'll have a two-week break from slave labour.

Have I mentioned already how much I hate housework?

Poor you!
After 33° yesterday we only had 23 today, but it's supposed to get over 30 again by Wednesday ...

I am so fed up with this! The lowest temperatures we've had since the end of June were 27°C, and that only for one day or two...

Oh my goodness, there's nothing worse than suffering through a horrible heat wave. We've been rather lucky this summer that temperatures didn't get as high as they did last year, and we were not threatened by another wildfire so close to home. But it did get past 30 a few times. Like you I just stayed inside in the dark and tried not to exert myself too much. I hope your ordeal will soon be over. Having to do housework during heat waves is a misery.

It really is!

Join the club with housework; I am not great with gardening either. I'd much rather read a good book.

Well, I live in a huge block of flats — a ten-storey concrete monstrosity — so no gardening for me. But I'd rather do just about everything than housework.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having computer problems. I wish we lived closer. I hear you re cleaning. I was pleased with myself yesterday, just for flitting about with a long handled fluffy duster and tackling the cobwebs at the ceiling corners. I still haven't run the vacuum.

Cleaning is a never-ending misery.

16 degrees yesterday, 15 today. I am freezing and could well take some degrees fro you!

And I'd be deliriously happy to hand them over.
