Fanfic woes

Don't look behind the tag. Nothing to see there, honestly. Just my usual seething about the injustice of fandom(s).

I've linked the few stories I still like to [livejournal.com profile] telekis_vendiak. Just in case someone wants to read good sci-fi. There are a few Tolkienfic recs, too, but fewer. I've all but stopped reading Tolkienfic... or writing it.

More recs

I've added quite a few new recs to [livejournal.com profile] telekis_vendiak. Among them a handful of LOTR ones as well. I'm still way behind the ungodly amount of stories I like in my countless fandoms, but getting there slowly.

Remember, adult fic recs (and really good ones, if I may say so myself) are friends-locked, so you need to join the com if you want to see them.

Atlantis fic rec

I found my way to this story by accident. It's exceptionally wonderful, and I urge all McKay fans to read it.

It's a future fic, after the return from Atlantis, G-rated and incredibly well-written.

B5 story recs

Specifically for Deborah - or anyone who cares.

The Timov story, called Not in Words:

A hilarious Morden story called Coffee and Antics:
http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1261527
Presenting two Shadows who are nicknamed by Morden as Mandos and Tulkas. No, I'm not kidding. Morden doesn't have a good opinion about his employers, saying that at least by Tolkien, Mandos and Tulkas had dignity. *g*

I might post more recs later.

Fic rec

For those who at least read German and like original fantasy stories. I found in the German section this story called Ayarin by someone with the pen name Angelheart.

I liked it, and thought that other people might find it interesting, too.

Something amazing

I'm completely blown away. Among all that [insert choice word] that is ff.net's Voyager section, I've found this:

http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=467033

Even those who aren't Trekkers by trade should read it. It's a creation myth for the Hirogen, a Delta Quadrant species, but the species actually doesn't matter. What matters is the eight-part-poem itself.

Now, I'm not overly into poetry, nor do I understand much about it, but this... nah, I can't tell. Go read it.

Oh, boy...

We had one of our traumatic family reunions again. Celebrating the birthdays of my cousins' children who both couldn't care less for the older generations. Which I can understand, actually - after all, this is the righ age for that.

The worse part is that I'm exclusively related to people with whom I don't have the tiniest common interest, our view on politics clash all the time, and they aren't very tolerant towards different opinions, either. I wish they would stop insisting that Mother and I go to these stupid reunions.

To mention something positive, I've found this on ff.net:
http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1256009

It's a crossover between LOTR and Star Trek - Enterprise. One I could actually enjoy. Thank Eru for small favours.
