German picspam #1 - Herxheim

Well, as promised, here's part 1 of the pics I took in Germany. Herxheim is a big village - or a small town, depending on your POV - near Karlsruhe, and thus the French border. We lived here in the "Mariapfalz Center" of the Schönstatt-Sisters, so the first pics behind the tag are from the house itself. The others are just pretty places in the village.

Schönstattcenter "Mariapfalz" in Herxheim

The pilgrim chapel outside the house (not the one within - alas, I don't have a photo of that one):

The same pilgrim chapel from the inside:

Our room in the house:

The foyer of the house, still with Easter decoration:

The parish church in the village:

The so-called Tobacco Fountain - tobacco, aside from wine, is an important economic factor there:

St. Joseph's home for elderly people (the saint's statue is on the front left corner):

The Town House:

The rest is just a few pretty houses, some of them with murals:

And finally, the little "train" that takes visitors on a trip around the vineries:

Next stop: Landau. Stay tuned!
