Truth be told, I actually like the Hugh Beringar/Olivier de Bretagne one, because the author had the taste to leave the whole thing in the realm of the theoretical attraction, after which they both returned to their wives instead of jumping each other's bones.

Of course, I still can't understand how Olivier could marry that spoiled brat Ermina Hugonin, but that's just me. I seriously dislike the character of Ermina. She's responsible for a lot of things, among them the death of that poor Sister Hilaria, and nobody ever called her on that. It would make an interesting story, though.
