Harlequin romances
... or rather their YouTube equivalents. Channels called Golden Revenge, officialrosiecullen and the likes. I've taken a liking to them lately... mostly because I'm too tired to focus on anything longer than, say, twenty minutes, and because they're rather cathartic.
Oh, I know all those stories are made up. I'm fairly sure that in real life all those wronged people would never get the chance to reclaim what's theirs by right; to start anew and become successful overnight and all that. But it is fun to read about it. Well, listen, actually, but they also have English subtitles, which makes it easier for me to understand. Spoken English isn't an easy thing for me. In any case, it's like books with happy endings, and I like those. Life is sh*tty enough in itself, I don't want to read such stuff on top of reality. I chose the videos that are between ten and fifteen minutes long because really, that's about the amount of time I can concentrate on them.
I'm sure this phase will blow over, soon enough. It's like reading idiotic Harlequin novellas, which I usually did when I had exams, back in my forgotten youth. Some kind of voluntary brainwashing. It is relaxing at the moment, and that's enough right now.
Speaking of real life, I made the grocery shopping today, cooked lunch (more asparagus, to use up the leftover Hollandaise sauce - thank goodness it's gone now), we had the regularly scheduled appearance of the exterminator, and that was, basically, my day. Very little me-time (not even a nap, as we couldn't be sure when the exterminator would show up - "late afternoon" isn't an exactly precise time), no phone calls, nothing creative done. And tomorrow we'll have a visit from our talkative chiropodist lady. That will be fun - NOT!
