Seriously, some people...

... Only read to pick a story apart. I've just got a long comment to a fairly old story, Still Not in Kansas, listing the eurrors i've supposedly made by trying to blend Star Trek and Babylon 5 technology. I mean, seriously, it is a frigging AU, and it is fictional tech, who cares if the comm badges would work or not? I care for plot and characterization mainly, of course I try to get the technology right, but who can tell if I really made a mistake or the "expert" reader only believes so, and frankly, who cares? They didn't have a good word to spare for the story itself...

I've blocked the selfless-important idiot and hope that thes time the blocking would actually work... it does not always. Such people can kill my joy in writing, really.

Edit: This idiot is unbelievable. Now that i've blocked them from leva ing signed reviews, they are writing anonymous ones with their imaginary error lists. A good thing that I moderate anonymous reviews.

They had scientific concerns about the functioning of fictional coms in a fiction you wrote? I see. That is bizarre. Really bizarre. Some commentors are simply nuts, I don't think there is any other explanation.

Sorry, that's me above. I thought I was logged in.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
No prob. But they are truly bizarre. In my experience it is usually the guys who are so obsessed with fictional tech. I wish they weren't logged in when spewing their sh*t as FF.Net won't let one remove signed reviews.

[identity profile] red-day-dawning.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
At least you can block them from writing further nonsense on your stories.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
I hope so at least. Blocking them doesn't always work, unfortunately, or not right away. And even so, there is a large black of offensive comments that I can't get rid of.

I wish peiple who supposedly like my stuff would be so eager to comment instead of just lurking.

[identity profile] saki101.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
I hope the blocking works and quickly.

It does make me wonder about them. Why are they spending time on a story that they have so many objections to unless their goal is to look for stories they can complain about, in which case, how do they find them? That would be a lot of reading to locate something one can get nasty about! As irritating as their behaviour is, it seems so pathetic as to not be worth the effort of being irritated at them. Unfortunately, muses are delicate creatures. *sigh* I hope something lovely happens to counteract the negativity this malicious reader has injected into your day.

For some reason I seem to attract rude idiots. It wouldn't bother me so much if they actually wanted to be helpful, even if they did it the most unpleasant way possible. But the said truth is, they just want to display their so-called cleverness and expertise. And they don't target poorly written, mediocre trash, either, but well-researched, carefully composed stories where the author has really put a lot of love and hard work into the story. I guess it makes them feel important, as is am not the only target I know of.

Sorry you had to deal with that again! *hugs*

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I do seem to attract them, don't I? And it isn't so as if I had my own huge following of devoted readers who would jump in to my defence with glowing reviews, alas!

[identity profile] red-day-dawning.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my, the commentor really is totally bizarre. S/he is now leaving anonymous lists correcting the fictional science in your fictional world? Honestly, I'm wordless. Don't let this dissuade you. HUGS.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I am trying but it's really disheartening. The new list consist of my biological, technical and grammatical mistakes, which are apparently numerous.

[identity profile] red-day-dawning.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
What an evil, petty, little troll. HUGS

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That they are.

[identity profile] ideealisme.livejournal.com 2016-05-30 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
They hate you so much it's almost a compliment.

Any chance it could be jealousy?

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-30 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think so, too. Especially as they have moved on to Blood & Fire, where I apparently have my Starfleet Heroes use the wrong type of phaser rifkes. *eyeroll*

That, or the idiot trolls hunt in packs...

Some fandoms seem to draw the obsessive types and I do think it's mostly males. I think they live in their own world--they can't write themselves, but they also can't stand it when your world doesn't exactly match theirs. I'm sure they do this to other authors in the fandom, how utterly obnoxious. Maybe one day they'll get a life, but I'm not sure...

Don't let them get you down, you're such a good writer!

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-29 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure those kinds of freaks ever get a life, but I think your analysis is very fitting. As I said above, I just wish the people who supposedly like my writing would be half this eager with a little supportive commenting. :(

[identity profile] breannarose1.livejournal.com 2016-05-30 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wow!
Everyone has a choice to continue reading or move on if they don't like what they read.
I think majorshane just wants people to to say how smart they are...at least, that's what I get from reading those technical posts.
majorshane & Difdi just completely miss the point of fan-FICTION!
Idiots both.

I, for one, love that you're able to combine two different series so well.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm sure they're both guys obsessed with imaginary tech and never check that those series are about the people, not about the technobabble. It's still annoying to have them breathing down my neck all the time.

[identity profile] jenn-calaelen.livejournal.com 2016-05-30 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs* Some people just have too much time, if this is the way they spend it! Hope they move on soon and leave you alone.

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-30 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I certainly hope they'll get bored before they manage to get through all my Trek stories. *crossing fingers*

Argh! Life is too short to have to deal with idiots...

[identity profile] wiseheart.livejournal.com 2016-05-31 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. The worst part is that these headdesk moments tend to kill my inspiration for a long time.
