Alas, my husband's mother is doing very poorly, so we were down that way for several days before, returning late Sunday. We did get to spend time with her both days: one she was not at all well, but the other, we were able to sit outside in the shade and chat for a couple hours. So it was a quiet birthday at home.
Sorry to hear it about your mother-in-law. But that's life, I'm afraid. I can see it on my own Mum - she gets more fragile with each passing year. I'm so grateful that she feels up to travel the little bit to Linz still, despite the fact how much her joints bother her. I hope she'll like the trip.
