Updates and RL stuff

I've finished putting up the finished chapters of "The Toreador Chronicles". God, am I relieved! 15 frigging parts... *groan*
But once again, I shamelessly enjoyed my own writing. Hey, someone has to, right? Done enough for today.

The forest fires on the Iberian peninsula are horrible. What I don't understand when such fires break out anywhere in the world is the fact hat so often arson is one of the reasons. Are people frigging insane? What could possible motivate any halfways sane person to do such thing? What's the gain in it?

It seems we've went to England in just the right moment. Before the heat wave and the sharpened security measures because of possible terrorist attacks. I knew I didn't want to fly for a reason... well, aside from being deadly afraid of flying, that is.

Next year, I'll go to France by train. Carcassonne is waiting. Anyone interested in meeting there or somewhere on our way? *g*

The terrible ash wednesday fires of the 1980's here were delibrately lit. There were a number of deaths in those fires, including firefighters..and then there's the fires DPI light to 'control' the weeds in the bush; these often get of control and burn thousands of acres of bush and farmland. You do wonder if and how people think!

I strongly doubt that "thinking" had anything to do with the whole process.

But you're right. I can't understand this... this perverted enjoyment in destroying living things, either.

I guess it's an illness, really. I have aborginal blood, and really really love a good fire, controlled of course! Though my ancestors used to fire the bush in sections every year to make the sweet grass come for the kangaroos. Early European settlers called the aborigines 'Salamander people' for their love of fire.

Some people just seem to get a sick thrill out of destruction. Which would be fine, if they'd just settle for burning wood in a fireplace and setting off fireworks. But of course they never do.
