... was fairly quiet, too, although with missed blessings. In any case, I put the peaceful morning to good use and finished the last pages of the baby books. I still have to bind them, which is the less pleasant part of the project, but at least the work is (mostly done).

Prepare yourselves for the picspam )

I also found the time to (finally) arrange a plate for ourselves, with all of this year's biscuits displayed:

And I did some writing, solved a few crossword puzzles, had a long phone talk with my friend Evie, played Solitaire on Methuselah-the-laptop and didn't have to cook because we ate the last leftovers. We both took a lengthy nap in the early afternoon, after having watched The Repair Shop.

Those were the good things. Unfortunately, Mum also got a call, telling her that one of her oldest ex-colleagues had died last night, at the age of 96. It wasn't entirely unexpected, he was ailing for a year by now, but it shook her very much nonetheless. Of a close-knit group of people of similar age who used to work together for decades, she's the only one left now. Oh, there still are two from the same workplace she's regular (phone) contact with, but those are at least a decade younger, which makes all the difference.
